Day 10
We went to the Florida Mall; it was very busy there, and we mainly browsed in the shops, but I managed to get my hands on a copy of Mad Issue #500!
In the evening, we went to Planet Hollywood; we had a trainee waitress and we didn't have a great table as we were right next to where lots of people kept walking. Afterwards we went to some place that had a lot of virtual reality rides and attractions and I had a good time playing on some multi-player pinball game, which I came 3rd from last in as the controls were difficult.
Day 11
We went to Universal Islands of Adventure and I did most of the rides, though I checked out of the Incredible Hulk Coaster. I found myself getting quite wet on some of the rides - especially the Popeye one as I was positioned so I seemed to get the worst of every moment when we got splashed. I had a turkey leg for lunch, and then went to the Duelling Dragons; the whole area around it is being refurbished to create a Harry Potter=themed area, and apparently the Duelling Dragons will be part of it (I'm guessing the Dragons will be called Griffindor and Slytherin!) I rather liked this sign that had been put up:
I took this one of the duelling dragons; this was the only angle I could get because of the building works getting in the way elsewhere.
I went on this ride for the first time; unfortunately I chose the queue nearest to the Express Pass queue, and I thought the organisation was quite scrappy. The guy who was in charge of getting people on the ride had a very thick accent and nobody could understand what he was saying to us at one point; I somehow worked out that he was saying we would have to wait for the next train as people from the Express Queue were getting on, but a bunch of people who sounded South African around me were asking me id I'd understood.
We also watched the Voyage of Sinbad, which was quite silly and pantomime-like, but enjoyable (it was full of shouting of "BEHIND YOU!")
In the evening, we had a free meal in Pat O'Brien's, where this woman was playing on the piano and talking to the customers. When we told he were were from Britain she started playing "Rule, Britannia!"
I got a good picture of these guys outside one of the restaurants:
The sunset in the evening was amazing and I got a few pictures of that as well:
