I'm not sure if I have any big obsessions now that shows like Game of Thrones have ended, and The Walking Dead is starting to slip (Season 9 wasn't one of the best).
So, I'll just say the recent Ricky Gervais show, Afterlife just because I've been discussing this and can't wait until the second (and probably final) series.
This is by far his darkest show ever, as it covers subjects including bereavement, drug abuse, dementia and suicide. On the face of it, Ricky Gervais' character is completely dislikeable; obnoxious and insulting almost everyone, but he does it because he recently lost his wife.
I liked the way that his character gradually stopped being just completely impossible to like, mostly through being friends with Penelope Wilton (the only character who he's consistently nice to). I have a theory...
That she'll turn out to be a ghost all along in the final episode.
This is hard to watch at times, but really good - it has a good message about how you don't know what others are going through, so you shouldn't judge, or just think about yourself.
It's on Netflix if you want to give it a try.
