Finally, I get the chance to post about the weekend away from a few days ago.
A group of us got the train down there together. Victor insisted on tearing the crossword out of my paper and getting us to help him with it.
I did somewhat better at getting answers than I'd expected, but when we didn't finish before the journey ended, Victor screwed up the crossword and chucked it at Adam.
It was a bit weird because we had dinner in two separate rooms, but it was actually quite good as there were never too many of us, so the queues weren't massive. Michael and Isobel were cooking for us.
This is them here.
On the first night, I ended up playing "Shadows of Camelot" with Campbell, Audrey and some of the girls. It's a hard game to explain, but easy to play - it is cooperative and involves trying to find who is a traitor and complete quests. I was up until 1:15am playing and when I got in I found the lights of our room still on.
Ben was getting ready for bed and Jack was lying in bed, but had hardly slept.
The next day, Kev did a lot of talks on the Bible that were very engrossing, and we later had some seminars to go to - I went to Ed's on how the Bible is multicultural. I also played football with several of the guys; I hadn't played in ages, and it was good to get a game in.
Since it was David's birthday, he held a ceilidh, and we had haggis served up by the students. Below is Connor with a tray of haggis.
And here's Angie being interviewed as the wife of a Scot (Finlay):
We did three dances - I did "The Gay Gordons" and "Dashing White Sergeant". I sat out of "Strip the Willow" and got pictures - I like this one of Phil.
I spent the rest of the evening playing football trivia with David as quizmaster - I was up against Lukas, Peter, Pete and Tom. I amazingly won, even though I don't exactly know much about football!
On Sunday morning, we all had to get our bags packed early - unfortunately, Ben was sleeping in and Jack couldn't wake him - then he just appeared magically in the dining room. We later had some quiet time, which was really good to clear my head and read some of my Bible.
When we went back, I ended up in a coffee shop with Victor and two of the girls. Charlie did a good talk at church, but I hurried off at the end to get the train.
The fan, which was causing my lights to short out, has now been removed, and I'm waiting for it to be replaced - apparently it had something to do with water over the top of it that must have got in through the roof somehow.
