Doctor Who: The Star Beast

So, I finally watched the first of the David Tennant Doctor Who specials. I loved it; thoughts below.

[Once upon a Time Lord SPOILERS]
So, first off, the Doctor/Donna reunion. First off, it was a surprise to find out just how much Donna knew, for example about the Doctor's last few incarnations, and the whole resolution to the threat of her dying was unexpected. I love it when writers manage to find a way to get out of a seemingly impossible situation.

Also, her daughter is called Rose - love it.

But, did she deliberately spill coffee on the TARDIS to make it malfunction? There was something weird going on there, like she wanted to make things interesting. Or had the TARDIS going haywire made her spill it?

On to The Meep, whose first scene put me in mind of the figure behind the dumpster in Mulholland Drive, and whose design put me in mind of Gremlins.

My first thought was "bad guy", and then the show lulled me into a sense of false security, before double bluffing us completely, so I was surprised completely when it turned out that The Meep was indeed the week's baddie.

I thought this was going to be a big continuing storyline, so was expecting a cliffhanger any moment, so was impressed when the whole plot was wrapped up. But it seems that The Meep has a boss, who will no doubt emerge in episode three.

But who could it be? Probably not the master, based dialogue, but could it be someone else we've seen before? Davros? Probably not. River Song? Very unlikely, and to be honest I think her story is done. That bad guy from the spider episode has yet to get his comeuppance; maybe he'll come back as this "boss".

I'm going to assume for the sake of argument that this "boss" isn't a suddenly evil Donna; that would be just too silly for words.
