Quite a rare type of palindrome, really - what a great day to have a birthday.
Today, I've been trying to give sincere compliments to others.
Mum and I went into London for the day; we started off in a nice artisan style coffee shop; the man who served us was very helpful, telling us all about the different coffee beans they sold.
I liked the tubes of coffee beans, although the grinding noise was a bit loud.
It felt like the place was run by this man...
After that, we went to Somerset house, where we went to two art exhibitions. The first was of Vincent Van Gogh, mostly his self portraits, which he did in the mirror. Apparently we could have bought erasers there modelled on Van Gogh's ear - at least before the woke brigade put a stop to it and called it "bad taste" (sorry to bash the woke brigade, especially if you are one of them, but sometimes they just get WAAAAY too touchy; lighten up people).
Please don't unfriend me for saying that...
The second was about the Beano comic, which I loved as kid, and it was good to see how much they couldn't get away with nowadays, some of it reasonable, like having black stereotypes in the 1930s. Some of it is a little too woke again, and it's slightly ruined the comic - I loved reading it back in the 1980s and 90s.
I used to buy it at University, though I occasionally worried that others were judging me when I bought it in the shops.
This was a nice reflected view, spotted while queuing up at the exhibition entrance.
Mum and I walked across Waterloo Bridge afterwards, and got this nice view across London.
We had tea at the South Bank Centre.
I opened my presents when I got home; I got some nice things - National Trust Membership, a portable hard drive to back up files on, perfect for when I replace by laptop, and a casserole dish that I can use on the oven.
We had one disappointment; the pub where we were meant to have dinner cancelled because they were closed - Coronavirus reasons, I think. We managed to find another good place, where we'd not eaten in years; I used to have my birthday parties there when I was a kid.
I've managed one 20 minute walk for week three of the Strava February Walking Challenge; I didn't quite manage a full walk of that length between stops today, unless you count my indoor walks in the art galleries!
I bought a little notepad from Amazon, with a view to writing "have done" lists. I also wrote up a short mindfulness action plan, thinking about my own limitations.
I should add did some Spanish learning (not too well though) to my have-done list.
I'm ready to go back to the office tomorrow. I'm grateful for all the nice gifts.
Just waiting for the result of a lateral flow test; they've sent me an old pack for some reason.
