Friendly February: Local Shops for Local People

Feb 15, 2022 17:40

I submitted my latest Release Your Potential coursework this morning; we were meant to have a meeting later in the morning, but this got cancelled due to lots of us pulling out because of work commitments.

I got my food shopping at lunchtime - the man who bought them was very friendly, but I was less impressed when I found that the cucumber I bought was squishy, and not fit to eat.

Mum and I had a walk into town this lunchtime, and popped into some of the local independent shops - they were quite helpful, too.

First off, we went to the art shop; the man started offering us chocolates when we arrived, and was very helpful in helping me choose a frame to finally get my latest taekwon-do cerficicate put in.

We also stopped in the independent greengrocers; they are quite friendly there, and I was able to get another cucumber.

I also popped into one of the local Italian restaurants to book a table for a birthday meal on Saturday week; I hope things go okay, as its ended up an an amalgam of two (three really) friendship groups, and some of them have different views (as probably mentioned) about certain things - I want to avoid vaccine related discussions.

To be honest, I probably booked too many places, but I had to book extra because there have been a few maybes.

I told Mum about my text messages with a friend yesterday; I decided in the end not to press the point of meeting up, but told him I hoped to see him at church soon; maybe I can raise the possibility of getting a coffee together then.

We had a short walk around town; I managed to log my second 20 minute walk of the week, and almost 3 hours for the Shokz Challenge on Strava. We also saw a lot of snowdrops!

I finally remembered to call the bank this afternoon about the issues I had related to Google; I'd been chasing someone up by e-mail and getting no response. I got transferred to three different people, and was told they would deal with it.

About half an hour later, they called back; they had sorted it all out, and I'm getting a full refund for the actions of that obnoxious hacker. I had a worry yesterday because I got a notification that I had supposedly logged into TikTok, which is not an app I ever intend to use, but a quick check of my transactions indicate no payment for the TikTok app (thank goodness), so I think I'm in the clear now.

I thought I was possibly going to be joining in a meeting of the local ramblers this evening, but I've had no invite, so I can only assume it's not something I'm not meant to be taking part in. If I get asked where I was, I'll reply that I never got sent the zoom link.

Now for a lazy evening instead.

Oh, and I just started on Better Call Saul Season 4...

[Spoiler (click to open)]
I was really hoping that Chuck would somehow escape that inferno that he accidentally created, but no such luck - I'll miss Michael McKean in the show, but I'm interested to see where it all goes.

I'm suddenly realising that I'm probably supposed to remember what goes on in the black and white flash forwards that each season starts with, and I'd forgotten about Jimmy/Saul collapsing.

I wonder where it's all heading towards? I'm predicting it will end with Jimmy/Saul being shot dead by Jesse Pinkman, making a cameo in the final scene.

I'll be posting some more positive things about the local shops.
