Self-Care September: Say No

Sep 07, 2021 18:43

Sometimes it's important to say no to things - requests, invites, and it can be hard. There's the whole desire to be helpful, or avoid FOMO.

I think I'm getting better at it, despite my potentially bad habit of explaining at great length why I can't do something, the opposite of a flat "no", which I also find hard to take (I usually hear it as a personal snub).

It's perhaps good that I've not had much to say no to - no invite to board game club, which I definitely won't try to make tonight. Someone was offering a trip to an art exhibition next week, but one check of the website showed that tickets were quite pricey. Being told they were "going fast" just felt like pressure anyway - I need time to think about things like this!

I have only taken short walks today, but have also done morning fitness. I had excuses to leave the flat, to go to the dentist, and also get my hair cut (plus a shave). The barber has been apparently told his shop is "the coolest in town".

I've also passed a lateral flow test (and ordered another testing kit, as I'm running out), and then finally there's today's Doodlewash sketch: Sunrise.
