Meaningful May: One Small Step...

May 04, 2021 17:15

I've spent much of today on working towards a bigger work project that will hopefully develop more as we emerge from lockdown.

It's one of those projects where I take the opportunity to step away from my computer and put my thoughts to paper, often with the television on in the background.

Meanwhile, other aspects of work have been annoying - particularly where I explain something clearly in an e-mail, only for the client to reply with what is basically a reworded version of the same question (and believe me, had the moderators not refused to let me join the "customers suck" community, I'd be right there complaining).

Outside of work, I have managed a few successes:

1) Managed to get ear drops (I really need them as I occasionally wake up with an ear blocked with wax, which affects my hearing until I decide to do something about it; the annoying thing is my local doctors stopped doing ear syringing, and said I'd have to go to the next town to get it done).

2) Got my coffee pods recycled, after two trips to the shop where they do the recycling; first time, it was too busy (it's a petrol station and if I see several people going in at once, I tend not to bother stopping to get my paper - that place is too cramped to achieve social distancing easily).

It took me three attempts to explain what I was there for, getting my recyling bag out of my rucksack to show the woman (I'd stuck it in there because just walking around with it after rejecting the shop as being too busy would make me feel ridiculous). I don't know if I just speak too softly, or the mask I had on was muffling my voice too much.

3) The pub from Sunday night confirmed the booking I made for later this month; I don't know if many of my friends will join or not, but there is a good singer playing that evening.
