Mindful March: Leisurely

Mar 18, 2021 20:22

Today's mindfulness task was to not to rush, which I know I often do, usually if I have a big task list in my head, or if I am trying to get back from my lunchtime walk fast.

If this had been a normal in-the-office working day I'd have failed this, because my first half an hour is just rush, rush rush; toilet, brush teeth, shower, get dressed, read my Bible, rush breakfast and straight out the door.

I always think, "Shall I get the train half an hour later?" and then decide that knowing my luck, that one will get cancelled, so I don't want to push my luck.

I think I did catch myself rushing a few times, but mostly I did fine; it was a good day to not rush through work tasks, mostly because I had distractions like my supermarket delivery.

When I went out for walks at lunchtime and just after I finished work, I didn't make them long, so I could stroll at my leisure rather than power-walking down the street looking like a crazy person. I must have logged a couple of miles for the stags' challenge.

The afternoon at work was mostly meetings; okay until the person I'm talking to constantly interrupts me in the middle of making my point, rather than hearing me out. It makes me almost want to shout, "Let me finish!" Time to rejoin the "co-workers suck" community on Livejournal, perhaps.

After work was the office quiz; it was well organised, but completely virtual, so I was only able to see my team for three minutes at a time to exchange answers - we did quite well, and finished second.

Now, here's to a non-rushed day tomorrow.

morning, work, john o groats to lands end, skyping, winter, bad habit, mindfulness, trains, livejournal, after work, lent, pet peeve, happiness, routines, quiz, action for happiness, mindful march, stag walkers
