Mindful March: A Bit of a Slapdash Job

Mar 17, 2021 18:18

Do you have any of those days when you're constantly reminding yourself in your head to do something; you mentally reply to yourself, yes, I'll do it - in a moment, I'll do it, and then you get so busy it goes out of your head completely?

That was me today with my mindfulness challenge, which was to find three things that amaze or impress me. I don't really know if it was my driving my brain crazy with some e-mails I was writing, stepping back from the e-mail, thinking, then completely revising it because I thought I was writing long-winded gibberish.

I went on a late lunchtime/early afternoon walk, and by then had forgotten the challenge, until I was almost back home and needing to get back to work. After my initial reaction, I just thought off the top of my head of things that did impress me, and I've decided to post them here.

1) This article, written because the UK's national census is coming up (we do it every ten years) and I have to fill it in, ideally this Sunday.

2) I did see three (Canadian?) geese fly past my window this morning, probably returning from their migration south (unconfirmed, as they were flying towards the south). I almost rushed to get my cameraphone, but realised I didn't have a chance - I needed to be ready, camera in hand, to get them.

So, I sketched them from memory; I really can't draw birds very well - I think this is identical to the efforts of me aged 8.

3) We also saw a cat dash across the road right in front of a car; they really have no sense of danger - I see them do it all the time. The good news was that the cat survived. I drew this from memory too.

I really wouldn't have me as a PA - I'd need to remind myself to remind someone else to do something.

My distance for the stags' challenge was not as much as in previous days; just over 2 1/4 miles, but I'll log it all the same. Apparently we made great progress yesterday.
