Mindful March: Chores

Mar 14, 2021 18:08

Today ended up partially being a housework day; the challenge was to work out how to make it fun, and I looked up a few websites. All I could think of was playing music and dancing, probably looking a bit crazy as I did so, and that did come up in every website.

My first action was to draw up a chore plan - so I've done a spreadsheet, entering frequency of chores and when I last did them.

I created a spotify playlist, paying attention to different suggestions online, and some ideas from friends - "Shake, Shake, Shake" and "Working 9 to 5" got into the list, and "I Want to Break Free" was a must, what with Freddie going around with his carpet cleaner in the video.

Thus, I must have spent an hour cleaning, with music on, and dancing maniacally in a way that I wouldn't do in public because I'd probably get some weird looks.

The flat is looking a bit better now; I did chores I procrastinate over, like dusting (I groan at the thought of having to move things out of the way) and I cleaned behind some things that I can't have moved in quite some time.

Today is mother's day in the UK, so I had a family zoom call/mother's day present opening; Mum liked the photo book I got her, and we had talk about potentially going to New York, en route to Florida, when we can - hopefully next year.

I did get in a walk, and some morning fitness; it allowed me to complete (just) the Spring into Action Challenge; I only clocked up 2.5 miles, so not much of a contribution to the stags' challenge, but I hope to have some longer walks after work in the week, and am looking forward to another hike next weekend.
