∝Transmission 022: Just Keep Swimming

Sep 16, 2010 00:36

[once again, DIVA and her signature chime do not appear, instead Commander Farix appears this time, waving at them with a smug smirk on his face]

Gooooooood morniiiiiiing Hawking crew! --And the Uesugi crew too. [he claps his hands and rubs them together] I have some good news and some bad news. [but one could wonder how bad it is, by the almost gleeful tone of his voice]

The good news is, we're done flushing out the ships! The bad news is, we can't leave or let any of you back on the ships.

Soon after the big flush, a big water line exploded [he demonstrates this with his hands as he says it, failing to suppress a broad grin] in the Biosphere and flooded out all the sectors up to and including a few parts of sector 42. The medical bay is fine except for some water damage to the long-term care and operating rooms, but that's fixable. [he waves a hand airily as if that could wave away the water]

Menaeus would have told you all this himself, but he's got his hands full trying to sort this mess out. [the grin widens] So, don't any of you worry, he-- I mean, we will have this all straightened out as soon as possible. For now, just hang in there a bit longer and we'll be back to business before you know it.

[he moves to shut off the connection, but pauses as he remembers something]

One more thing. Have any of you tried the fruit down there yet? It may look a bit funny, but it's delicious. If anyone brings some back up for me, I'll--

[before he can finish the terms of his bribe offer, a green hand with three long fingers covers the screen with a last message from Farix, "Hey! I was talking!" echoing through before the connection drops.]

DETAILS
You heard right, folks. The flush may be finished, but no one can go back on the ships yet.

In other news, the weather has gone a bit strange. The nice weather has turned into a sudden downpour soon after Farix's announcement, but it will continue to fluctuate between perfectly fine weather and surprise rainstorms at random. The lake near the base has swollen its banks and risen up near the base too. Whether the odd weather is to blame or not, no one knows.

The effects of the last two plots are still going too. For those who might have forgotten or weren't around for either of them, there's the relaxed feeling infecting everyone, but it's still dampened and those who eat the fruit are still susceptible to those nightmares.

In addition, your character may notice that they're having trouble breathing the air, although, whenever they might happen to be in the shower, the rain, etc. they can breathe much more easily. Keep in mind, the more time your character spends in the water, the more uncomfortable it is for them to breathe on land. Should they spend enough time in the water, they will find gills growing in behind their ears, followed quickly by webbed hands and feet.

Never fear, if they do become more accustomed to the water, your character will be able to breathe, talk and the like underwater, though they may sound a bit funny at first. And yes, the Spheres are waterproof, so no need to worry about them short-circuiting or anyone getting electrocuted.

    ----------------------------

Our final order of business here is a well-overdue... ACTIVITY CHECK.

For this round, merely list your character(s) and their journal name(s) to show that you want to stay in the game. You have one week to reply after this post appears. After that, we'll take count of those who have not replied and make a list of those who missed the check. A week after this list is posted, those who have not come forward will be, most unfortunately, removed from the game. Those who fail to make the activity check and the final deadline but wish to rejoin the game must resubmit their application. Those listed on the hiatus page and have applied within the last two weeks are exempt from this activity check.

Before we let you continue, however, the level of activity this past month has been disappointing. We understand that real life circumstances do come first, but we need your help to keep this game alive. We have not made this decision lightly, but for the next activity check scheduled for November, and ones after it, we will have an additional, but small, requirement. We ask that for every character you plan to keep in the game, you submit one post or three threads. Please don't panic, you all have two months before the new requirements kick in.

As always, if you have any questions or comments about this plot, activity check or anything at all, feel free to leave them here in this post or email us.
