[when the familiar three-note chime sounds, the image that appears across the entire Sphere network is not that of DIVA, but that of a serious, middle-aged man--one who ought to be easily recognizable, especially to previous visitors of this universe.]
Greetings, everyone. This is Admiral Ganymede. Normally, I would leave such announcements to DIVA, but after recent events, I thought it best to say this myself.
All investigation into the matter regarding the First's agents, known as "The Cedirra", has proved that the ship a portion of our fleet was summoned to has not been destroyed as originally thought. Why such a bluff would be employed when there were no life signs on the ship is anyone's guess at this point, but as of right now, we will continue to consider the Cedirra as an active threat against the Alliance military and this very mission to locate the First. We will continue to keep an eye out for any further sign of them or anyone else under the First's employ, but know that locating the stolen Gate is still our primary objective in this mission. The sooner we recover the Gate, the sooner we can avert the possible destruction of the universe.
[he pauses for a moment, his expression weary with the lines on his face deepening before he breaks himself out of his brief reverie. if one is near a window during all this, they will see
this planet looming in the distance, with
two moons orbiting it.]
After this cat and mouse game with the Cedirra, I'm afraid most of the leads into the whereabouts of the First have now dried up despite our best efforts to keep them alive. Our current course has put us to on track to rendezvous with the planetary outpost Alliance base known as the
Gerostana. I will leave the additional details for DIVA to explain once I have finished here, but for now... [he smiles a smile that on the surface is tired, but behind it is the same determination and strength he once showed on the Crucible.] Know that we are doing everything in our power to find the First. We will get you all home.
[and the transmission cuts for a few seconds only for the image of DIVA to resume the Admiral's place]
Attention all personnel. We are now in orbit of the partially terraformed planet known as Pallas. The majority of land on Pallas is uninhabited due to the acrid environment, but the area around the Gerostana base is hospitable to humans, but we advise that you do not wander too far. As such, I am only allowing authorized personnel into the Hawking's docking bays. The ship-to-ship transporter stations can now be used to beam down to the Gerostana. As with any disembarkation, we expect all Alliance protocols to be followed, and any deviance from them will be duly punished.
We will remain in orbit until the Admiral has given his okay to move forward.
That will be all.
DETAILS
That's right, folks! Orion Ganymede has finally graced us with his presence! What a grand honor to see our distinguished Admiral and have him speak to us. Also, we've stopped over another planet for a pit stop and you're free to explore the base and the area surrounding it. Along with this beautiful scenery, the locals are laid back, friendly, and easily forgive. Everything seems normal enough, but things aren't always as they seem, as I'm sure some of you may have guessed.
In the safe areas of the planet, odd trees have long-since sprouted up. And on these odd trees are odd fruits that are approximately the size of a mango. The leaves of the trees can be found to emit a light, flowery scent that puts people into a relaxed state of mind. Relaxing enough to wash away your worries and make your problems seem to disappear. All that matters is the here and now. A fight you've been having with another crew member? Water under the bridge. That weird dream you had and couldn't get off your mind? It's nothing to worry about. Should your character decide to climb one of the trees for a fruit or eat one that fell to the ground, they will quickly fall into a deep sleep for five hours after eating their fill. When they wake up, they will feel very refreshed and even more zen.
Maybe after a quick jaunt outside in the relaxing atmosphere, you feel like going back onto the ships. It doesn't hit immediately, but a feeling of anxiety creeps over you and the visions come back. All your worries come back at double strength among other symptoms. Should you return to the planet's surface, you'll start calming down again and thoughts of the visions of the datapad, the gravestone, and the mess hall meeting fade off again and you'll feel no worries for the rest of your days.
Both states of zen and anxiety affect everyone regardless of your state of organics or planet of origin. :>
As for the two commanders and crew members who've been recovering in the Medical Division for the past week, they're now out and about, yeah!! But, for now, they've been advised to take it easy, so you won't be likely to catch them. >.>;
And as always, if you have any questions or anything about the plot or want to plan/discuss things with other players, you can do so in the post!
Have fun guys! We may be here for a while...
