American Idol Concert

Aug 18, 2008 08:32

Well, I have had a couple of people ask me about my day last Tuesday in Baltimore for the American Idol concert. It was pretty exciting, so I thought it was worth an update!

We got there around 10:30 a.m. and we parked right across from the arena and found the area where they would be doing the meet and greet. We got a nice little spot right along the fence and set up camp (we brought chairs, a cooler, games, etc.). We were prepared to stay there for awhile because we had no idea what time they'd be coming up out. My cousin and my aunt joined us around 12:30 and by the time they got there they, and I had to go to the bathroom. Inner Harbor is "the place" to go in Baltimore and it was only a few blocks down, so we went there. There's a bunch of shopping, so we found a bathroom in one of the shopping areas. As we were coming down the escalator from the bathroom I heard my cousin gasp and say, 'Oh my god, oh my god, oh my god.' Right then we saw David Archuletta and Kristy Lee Cook walking across the food court and they sat down at a table in one of the food court restaurants. My aunt went right up to their table and took a picture that was posed and everything (I still need to get that), but Beth and I freaked out a little bit. We stood there for a bit, trying to get up the nerve to ask them for a picture. Then their food came and I felt bad bothering them while they were eating, so we stayed there while they ate. No one else saw them, except one group of girls right as they were leaving. I went up to them, touched David's arm- haha- and asked them for a picture. They said that they were really late already getting back to the tour bus. We had heard from someone earlier in the day that if they were coming out to do the meet and greet outside they'd be there around 2 and it was like 1:30 then, so I figured it was okay. I still snapped one while they were standing there anyway. Looking back I feel kinda bad, because I became the kind of person that they hate, but I just couldn't pass up the chance.

So then we walked back to the arena- my mom was pretty mad that we saw them, because she had been saying all day that we should be hanging around Inner Harbor and that would have been our best bet to see people. But the thing is, when they're out in public they don't stop for you, but at the meet and greet- that's the point of it. So if we had left our prime spot at the arena we wouldn't have seen any of them. So when we got back to the arena a little bit after that Brooke and Kristy came out. Brooke was sooooooooo incredibly sweet. She was probably my favorite the whole season after Archie, so I was excited to see her. She and I actually even had like a 3 minute conversation! We continued to talk even after she had passed us. I love her! Kristy was then nice enough to take a picture with me, and she ended up being the only one I ever got a posed picture with. I didn't like her that much, but it was still fun.

After about an hour of no one coming out, David A's dad, Jeff, came out. He was very nice and friendly. Someone yelled out and asked him if David or any of the others were going to come out. He said he wasn't sure, but then he called David on his cell to see what was going on. He was on the phone for awhile until he finally came over and told them that he wasn't sure what all was going on, but that none of the others were going to be able to come out. They have all kinds of interviews and things like that to do before the concert starts. Jeff told us to come back as soon as the concert was over and they would all come out and do a meet and greet until midnight. So my mom, Beth and Aunt Cindy decided to take the things back to the car. I was not smart in my choice of shoes and so I had blisters on my feet, so that's why I stayed. Then Megs (she came too!) said she had seen a 7 11 across the street and that we should go get bandaids for me because we were getting ready to walk down to Inner Harbor again for dinner. We were a little ways down the street from the arena when I heard the screams. I looked at Megs and was like, oh my gosh, they're screaming! That could only mean one thing.

So Megs, Sheree and I ran back to the meet and greet area just in time to see David Cook and Chikezie waving and running back into the building. I didn't even have time to take a picture, because I pretty much just saw Cook's head (he was wearing that red hat you always see him wear) for about 2 seconds and he was gone. Except for those two, the rest of them came around and did some signing. Archie walked by and we slapped his hand. Apparently it was security that was giving them a hard time about not coming outside and they all (as a group) finally convinced them that even if it could only be for 10 minutes, they wanted to come out since people were out there.

So, then the concert was amazing. They all did mini-concerts and then just one group number at the very end. It was sort of nice that way, but they used to do several group numbers and I feel like you saw them more when they had it set up that way. After the concert we went back outside and once again managed to get a prime spot for the meet and greet. They all came out, except Chikezie and David Cook. That was pretty disappointing. Michael Johns is soooooooo goofy and funny. He seemed to be the most genuine out of all of them. The rest of them were nice, but they were definitely going through the motions. Michael was joking with everyone the whole time and was really a lot of fun. Ramielle was really tiny and cute. She and I talked about jeans. haha. Archie is adorable, of course. And Carly is just really cool. Jason is really good looking in person and if he'd get rid of the dreads he'd be so freakin hot. I can't look past the dreads, but he is really hot. Syesha had some crazy hair going on, and she really seemed the least friendly out of all of them. I know she was nice on the show, so I'm sure it was just being exhausted and being tired from already doing that so many times already.

So it was a pretty crazy day, but it was so much fun! I've never been around that many famous people all at once before. And I got to see David A, who was my FAVORITE four times that day, if you count the concert. Totally awesome. If you haven't seen the pics yet, I posted them on facebook!
