I haven't updated in a while, partially because my life is consumed by the job search and I wasn't sure if that was interesting enough that anyone would want to read about it. But, since it seems that my job search is the prime topic of conversation lately, I figured I might as well give a brief update on my hunting strategy.
Last week I went to a breakfast for the Boca Raton Chamber of Commerce with a man who had awarded me scholarship money from his fund for college. He is very well-connected and he introduced me to lots of higher-ups in the community. Since the breakfast, I've scored three interviews (Director of Communications for the Chamber of Commerce Tuesday morning, Marketing specialist for Antol Restoration this afternoon and editorial writer for Live on Stage / Bank Atlantic Center Wednesday) AND a networking lunch this Friday with two CEOs of local businesses. On top of that, I've got a networking interview with the PR department at Universal Studios tomorrow afternoon and I've made a connection at Disney who is helping me to get an interview there (which would seriously be THE perfect job for me). It's all very busy and exciting. It brings back my motivation to finally see some things in motion. There is no guarantee that any of these things will pan out, but I'll have a better idea by the end of the week.
Other briefs:
- Bailey is growing so fast! He weighs 2 lbs 2 oz now. He has an upper respiratory infection right now, which is scary for a puppy, but he's on meds and getting better every day.
- We recently painted my room blue! For the past 18 years, I've lived with white walls, so this is a nice change and makes the room much more cheery. I'm also getting some new furniture delivered on the 21st (a computer desk, hutch, nightstand and chest) since I've also lived with the same furniture since I moved in at age 5 (aside from the bed, which we upgraded when I was 16).
- My workout plan has gone down the drain now that I've left GHFC, even though I did join LA Fitness. But you know what's miraculous? I guess I've been so busy that I've been thinking about food less and thus eating less. Even with working out only once a week, I've dropped 9 pounds since I've been home. I was 151 when I got here and I'm down to 142. 10 more pounds and I'll be at my goal weight, which is great.
That's all for now! I miss everyone in LJ land like crazy!
