An uncharacteristically pointless post...

...to let you all know that I still exist

I haven't posted for a very long time, as I've been barely keeping up with other things, and haven't completed any fanfic recently. I joined a new RPG, veiled intentions, recently, which is part of that, but I've also been working on fics that aren't done and working on original fiction (something I more or less abandoned when I started writing fanfic), and have returned to riding and taken up rock climbing. Add in spring yard and garden work, and I've been pretty busy.

I've spent the last few days trying to finish ongoing short projects, with frustratingly little success, but this morning seemed like a good time to at least log in and look at my journal and handle the backlog of administrative tasks.

The new RPG may affect me in another way, as well. I'm now in chat a lot, so if I have some little thing I want to say to a random group of people, some of whom know me, I do. This probably makes me less likely to post those things, but on the other hand, I seldom posted them anyway. I've always used this journal primarily for fanfic announcements.

Tech peeve of the day:

I've been ordering a number of things by mail lately, and every time I fill out an address form, I am more irritated at having to fill in my town and state. Yes, it's just a little extra typing, but it's unnecessary. I should enter my zip code, and then the ordering software should fill out town and state for me. Other services (weather pages, directories, mapping services) get this right; why can't major retailers? In fact, if I'm willing to enter my 9-digit zip code, I shouldn't need to enter an address at all, just to confirm one.
