Hello hello! Did you enjoy? I'm still having a hard time living on normal (i.e.) work) time... argh, it was so much fun.

Yeah, well, since I'm going to Sectus, it's hard to justify a second HP convention. Meeting up for opening night for OotP would be great!

I actually don't even know the last 4 digits of my zip code. The postal code never really requires it, although if I had to memorize it just so I could get out of filling out all the forms all the time, it would be worth it.

Don't you have an autofill option that can always automatically fill in town and state for you? That's what I have on Firefox and Opera.

Anyway! Hi! *waves*

I use Firefox, so yes. It just doesn't seem to work often for purchases. I suppose that could be because the field name varies from one form to the next (for example, "Town" or "City" or "City or Town"). One of the few Mozilla features that I miss in Firefox is the ability to edit form data. I'm sure there's an Add-on that lets you do that, but I haven't tracked it down.

Ah, but sometimes the software isn't good enough and still doesn't get your address right.

For example, most UK postcodes are of the format A(A)1(1) 1AA (where As are leters and 1s are numbers, and bracketed ones are optional). Only mine, being in central London and therefore weird, is AA1A 1AA. My bank doesn't believe this format of postcode exists, and their system is *really* not flexible, so I haven't had a bank statement in over a year. No idea who does get them.

On the plus side, I do get to just enter my postcode and house number when I order pizza online. Dominos are clearly more advanced than one of the biggest banks in the world.

See, that's why it irritates me. It's not that typing the extra twelve characters and picking an item from a dropdown menu is that bad, it's that little independent companies, and young corporations make it unnecessary, and large, rich companies with resources don't seem to get it. Database software has been able to derive that information from a US zip code (they are all regular, BTW) for at least fifteen years.

It's a weird example of non-adoption of a convenient technology.
