Well, I am thoroughly frustrated at this point.

I received a call this morning that Craig's grandmother (his paternal grandmother, the one he's not really close to, and that has been sick for a while now) died last night. And now I've been trying to get in touch with Craig all day. He's up at Camp McCain in Grenada, MS for summer camp with the Guard. Well, naturally, it's Sunday so I can't get in touch with anyone. After trying information for a number to Camp McCain, I couldn't find anything. Can you believe they have NO listing?! So, I call Camp Shelby in Hattiesburg and get some numbers. Noone answers at any of them. No one answers at the local Red Cross chapter either. So, I end up calling the national number. I open a case, have to call back and find out where her body is, so they can obtain verification of her death, before they will forward the message to him.

Craig's dad, Mike, has been calling all afternoon wanting to know if I've heard from him because they need him to be a pallbearer at the service Wednesday. Which all depends on if they will let him come home, and if he can get home. He flew up there in one of the helicopters, so he has no car. Which may mean having to drive there to get him. I finally call the National Red Cross number again and they said that they contacted the local chapter and the local chapter said they couldn't verify the death. WTF? I gave them the funeral home name and number. She's there. For crying out loud! Anyway, the national Red Cross guy said he'd take over the case and call himself and get the message to Craig.

But honestly, does it have to be an act of Congress to get a message to him? And my stomach is in knots. I didn't really know Aletha (grandmother), but it just stirs up memories of losing my own grandmother. And Craig was out of town when that happened as well.

Ugh. Life. Bitch. Crawl under rock. Die.
