Shutter Island
I'm only going to talk about this move, so if you want to,
I'm not the world's greatest movie reviewer, and truthfully there isn't a lot I can say about this movie without revealing the plot. So here goes:
It stars Leonardo DiCaprio, which was a strike against it. Surprisingly, it overcame this obstacle. The second strike was that it was two hours and ten minutes long, the first hour of which was pure exposition. However the exposition was needed, and gave the second half its impact. It's a psychological thriller? based around an investigation into a mental hospital. DiCaprio plays a Federal Marshall investigating the disappearance of a patient, although he has some troubles of his own. Prior to this event, his wife, played by Michelle Williams, has been murdered.
I can think of at least two good movies that the overall plotline is similar to, but obviously I can't say without revealing too much. One is a Russel Crowe movie, and the other is a Naomi Watts movie. Is it a coincidence that those movies featured Australian actors?
