WHO: The Jedi Exile, Atton Rand, Cammy White
WHEN: 4th of March, 2008
WHERE: A Dark And Stormy Night
WHAT: The Exile and Atton have come to this plane looking for either Jedi Masters, information on the bounty, or a good place to lay low. What they find is some small trouble, and someone who claims to be helpful.
WATCH FOR: Atton being Atton, and the Exile putting up with it.
Atton has a penchant for getting in trouble. If it's not him getting busted by the authorities for smuggling contraband onto a 'no-blaster' planet, it's him crashing the Ebon Hawk into a planet and getting himself landed in a Force Cage for the third time in a month.
But tonight, trouble's taken a different form.
Tonight, he's flying through a window.
Atton actually hadn't planned this at all. What he /had/ planned was an evening of second-rate alcohol and a few hands of trumped-up card game that was nothing in comparison to Pazaak. One minute he was winning, and the next, his trump card slipped out of his sleeve.
It took only seconds for his opponent to react, and react he did. One punch landed on one side of his face, and the next sent him flying through the large window at the entrance.
And Atton thought he took HIS card games seriously.
It's at that moment that the scoundrel lands on the sidewalk with a heavy thud, the pinstriped fedora Atton liked so much lost somewhere in the night. With a groan, he pushes himself upright.
"Fine!" he manages to shout out as he shakily pulls himself to his feet. "I was just leaving anyway."
As Atton lands rather ungracefully outside the building, a young asian woman steps out from the shadows, to where the scoundrel is rising off the ground. "Well. Looks like THAT went well." She says, looking around. "Tell me they aren't likely to follow you. I've had enough fun with thugs for one day."
The Jedi Exile is still on guard, even here, where they don't seem to have even heard of Jedi. On the other hand, it seems there's a lot of things they hadn't heard of. Like politeness. And reason.
And the effectiveness of unarmed combat when used in conjuction with The Force. It was probably a good idea to have Bao-Dur and T3 stay with the Ebon Hawk. And Kreia had opted not to come anyway. "Anyway, did you find anything useful in there?"
While many a-bounty hunter may be hunting the Jedi Exile, Cammy isn't one of them, though she IS aware of the bounty out on her.
No, the former Zero Doll is here on routine patrol. Well, that and she's looking for answers to the mysteries of her lost past. However, her entry to the sector is nearby the Exile and Atton. Though that's more by accident than by design
"Hey!" he protests, rubbing his tender head. "It's not my fault!" Except that it completely is.
"It doesn't matter, anyway," Atton continues, hand still firmly planted on the back of his head. "There wasn't anything there that I hadn't heard already. If we need information or a place to lay low, we should have just gone to Nar Shaddaa." Atton speaks from experience.
Atton moves his hand from head to cheek. His opponent was puny compared to the Mandalorians he fought in the wars, but he could pack a punch. No doubt that it's going to bruise in the morning.
"Look, let's just go back through the gate and get back on the ship and I can have us in Nar Shaddaa by morning."
As confident as her companion seems to be about Nar Shaddaa, the Exile still has her doubts. Mostly because Atton has mentioned the Red Sector a few times too many. But he's right. This particular gate seems to have been a bust, that's for sure. "All right. I'll get Bao-Dur to warm up the ship, and we can get out of here before anyone else causes us problems."
Pulling the hood of her robe up, the Exile starts to move towards the part of town where they found the gate. And 'persuaded' the mobsters guarding it to let them through without paying any 'protection money'. Hopefully she won't have to do it again.
Wandering their way, Cammy blinks at the two of them. One of whom appears to be from this mysterious 'Nar Shaddaa' that was mentioned not long ago with the bounty placed out on Jedi. At least if the discussion she's overhearing can be believed. She blinks.
"You two seem to be new to this sector." She says in her usual near-emotionless monotone
Finally, something they can both agree on! Atton had been bugging the Exile about going back to Nar Shaddaa ever since she first let him out of the Force Cage on Peragus II. And while Atton's being honest about the whole 'place to lay low' thing, the Exile is right to be a little suspicious of the scoundrel's motives; there's nothing Atton wants more than a Twilek dancer in one arm, and a glass of the smuggler moon's best Juma in the other.
But the thoughts are quickly pushed away with the sound of a new voice behind them. A female one.
Atton turns around, eyes glossing admiringly over the newcomer's busty figure. "Yeah. We're just about to head out of here. Let's just say that the folks here were less-than-accomodating."
"The stranger one is, the less likely people are to be to trust you immediately." Cammy says.
"Perhaps This..I..can be of some aid?"
The Exile, too, turns when the voice interrupts their conversation. On the other hand, she's far less accepting of random, strange, leotard clad woman that appears. She also has the sense to give Atton a quick elbow jab in the gut when she sees him, well, being Atton.
"I don't think that's really that necessary. We were just leaving after all." She shoots Atton that glance of 'does she LOOK like she's from around here'. On the other hand, it's hard to say if Atton has actually deciphered the Exile's many glares. He probably thinks she's checking him out.
Cammy pays no attention to the fact that she's being leered at. She gets that more than you'd think. When the Exile says they're about to leave, Cammy nods.
"Understandable. Though the Sci-Fi sector, if that is where the two of you are from, is some ways away, even by gate. Whatever you came here for may be more easily obtainable in one of the other sectors, which would save you the trip."
"Alright, alright." Geez, why does everyone have to abuse him? As if it weren't bad enough he got socked in the face and punched through a window, he had to deal with suffering abuse from his own ally.
"Oh yeah?" he asks, a hint of skepticism in his voice. "Where in this dump could you find information, anyway?" He has his doubts that he could glean any information from this place that he couldn't get off Nar Shaddaa.
Atton's not the only one skeptical here. But now she's curious. Either this person was listening in, or knows something more than she's letting on. And that is enough to pique The Exile's curiosity.
"Really." And then Atton blurts out exactly what they're after. Way to go, Atton.
"That depends entirely on the information you want." Cammy replies evenly. "It also depends on how classified it is. Different areas of different sectors regard certain information as being on a 'need to know' basis, with the more important and potentially destructive pieces of information classified top secret. However," Cammy says, continuing, "dependant on the information you need, I may be able to supply you with what you're looking for."
"We're looking for info on Jedi." And before the Exile can send an elbow pommeling into his midsection, he quickly adds, "The two of us are bounty hunters, and we're looking to turn in some Jedi for some cred." He puffs out his chest a little, trying to act like the cocky bounty hunters he met during his years on Nar Shaddaa.
Pulling her hood further over her face, trying to act like she's masking her embarrassment from Atton, more than who she is. Which is true, really. But it's probably the closest thing to a good save she's going to get from this situation. "What he said." She mutters. She can deal with this later. And maybe this odd monotone woman IS an information broker of sorts.
Cammy tilts her head in confusion. She casts her memory to anything regarding that word. "The word Jedi is probably new to most who are new to the multiverse. I fall into that category. However, if there is a bounty out on one, you could very likely simply find information on anything which resembles the Internet in worlds with enough scientific advancement. Though that's only a guess. The Syndicate and the IPA's more experienced agents would be your best source of information. However the Syndicate, on the whole, is not to be trusted, and depending on the IPA's stance, you may or may not get any information worth having." The blonde says after some thought.
"These Jedi you're looking for due to the bounties may not be actual criminals. Bounties can be placed on those who are not actually criminals in the desire to cause harm to innocent or law abiding individuals. You may be chasing bounties which are undeserved. In which case there's no telling if anyone would be willing to aid you."
Atton had already spoken to another Syndicate member about the Jedi--a bounty hunter named Boba Fett. And the little information he learned from talking to the Mandalorian was that the bounty on the Jedi was still active in his time, in the distant future. Even if he was able to find Fett again and bring up the Jedi, he somehow doubted that the bounty hunter would just lead them straight to their secret enclave.
Just when Atton's beginning to really appreciate the eye candy in front of him, she has to start preaching. If it had been Kreia, he might have delivered some cutting response, but this isn't the old Jedi witch. For a moment, Atton considers turning in Kreia for the bounty, but figures that it'd probably only make the Exile angrier at him than she already is.
"Alright then, thanks for the tip."
Wow. Useful information, that. In other words, nothing useful. It looks like it's going to be Nar Shaddaa after all. Great. "Well. Thank you for your time, then." The Exile says, curtly, before turning around, and heading back towards the gate they entered through. Atton will probably be along shortly, with any luck. After all, she needs him to fly the ship.
That's not to say, of course, that no-one will be paying attention to the goings on around here, as the Exile leaves.
Cammy nods. "You may wish to speak to some others among the IPA. They may be able to offer more information than I can. However, that isn't guaranteed." The blonde says simply, watching the Exile leave, making sure to commit as much as she can about her and Atton to memory.
