Mundane Sector - Holy Roman Empire
The Holy Roman Empire stands a significant power in Europe during the Middle Ages, in those Mundane planes less advanced along their timelines. Though united to a degree under the Holy Roman Emperor, crowned by the Pope of the Roman Catholic Church seated within the Empire, the nature of the Middle Ages necessarily limits the unity and cohesion of the Empire beneath that considered usual for a nation state. The territories of the Empire, including among others the lands usually considered Germany and Italy, are, like the lands of most of its European neighbors, not truly ruled by a king so much as by dukes and other landed aristocrats, constantly competing for land and vassals (including the ever-critical complement of knights, serving as professional soldiers bound by loyalty and, at least nominally, honor) and at each others' throats. Intrigue is a constant; poverty and religious fervor are as well, owing in part to the period sitting between the death of the learned Western Roman Empire and the rebirth of science in modern Europe. The Church holds a great deal of power, and it is in fact during the periods of time addressed by these planes that all four Inquisitions began. Sickness, too, is a critical factor, owing to the presence of the Black Death, and the lack of medical recourse beyond religious or folk superstition.
The Holy Roman Empire, eh? The feel of silver from the surroundings just gave Zorin Blitz the chills. Too much sun, too. Though it could have detrimental effects if exposed to large quantities, Freak Vampires were largely untouched in casual traveling. Though it did help if you could cast a spell to block the sun out--which was what she was going to do. Anyone strolling by the thing would be caught in the spellcasters Glamour, which would affort her a chance to grab a quick snack, if fate was willing.
Pacifica Casull had been in need of a bit of time to herself. Considering Abel had this way of worrying over her, Pacifica was doing him a favor by leaving /his/ Rome. Instead, she'd decided to explore in depth, the Roman empire that wasn't the same as Abel's world. The crossbow she's come to know is strapped on her back as she slips out of a nearby building finding that the city is a lot darker than she had anticpated. "Guess I stayed out longer..perhaps I should head back before Abel worries." She murmurs.
The sound of footsteps can be heard if one is listening, the sound of combat boots against rough hewn stone. Zorin stands atop a building, looking down at the rather short lady whom seems to have become tonight's fast food, fast to catch, but ever so delicious once caught. She decides to hell with talking to her first before trying to grab a bite, having the last one get away from her and leaving her hungry.
"Well hello there, little miss, all alone in the dark, are you?" Zorin grinned, her fangs displayed prominently against her broad smile, the gigantic scythe she carried cradled between her left arm and hip.
Pacifica Casull looks back at the sound of the voice, frowning suddenly as she notices at once two things: the fangs, and the scythe. "Um, hi.." She states, reaching back for her crossbow.. you know, just in case. "I'm just fine, thanks for asking.."
Zorin leaped down from the top of the building. Her six foot frame gravely overshadowing the red dressed beauty before her, plus, the muscles man, Zorin was built like Chyna. "So nice of you to join me for dinner, young miss," Zorin stared at Pacifica, her hand resting on her chin. This one was dressed quite elegantly.. perhaps she was royalty from here, or some kind of noble woman? "Hmm.."
Fully gripping her crossbow now, Pacifica looks back at Zorin. "I didn't know I was joining you for dinner, but I think I already have other engagements, but so very nice of you to invite me!" She states, looking at Zorin, perhaps a little nervously. She mentally went over Buffy's vampire instructions for the crossbow.
"Hm? Ooh.. you have a toy, how lovely, must attract all the men," Zorin bent lower to see what Pac had in her hand. Turned out to be one of those mounted bow and arrow thingies, she wasn't sure what they were called in English. Still, it was amusing that she would have it, though it made sense given their surroundings. Now.. how to go about this, that collar of her dress looked awfully inviting, her teeth almost itched at the sight of it, her stomach growling. "Now.. be a good little aperitif and hold still..." Zorin shoulded her scythe in her right hand and reached out to grab Pacifica with her normal, left one. Lets see if she was faster than she looked.
Zorin Blitz successfully targets Pacifica Casull with her Grapple Check action.
With the left hand snatching for her, Pacifica's eyes widen in surprise. She always has the worst luck! Feeling the hand grabbing for her and actually getting a grip, the blonde quickly raises the crossbow towards the vampire's chest and fires a bolt. "I'm sorry, I don't eat dinner with people unless they've introduced themselves first!"
You miss Zorin Blitz with your Crossbow to the chest! attack.
Zorin tried to grab the woman and drag her closer, trying to get a bite at the girl. She didn't expect the crossbow bolt, however, not realizing till there was a long shaft of something stuck in her chest. Ow.
"Eerrooow!" Zorin wailed and stumbled back, plucking the arrow out of her chest and looking at it. It hadn't gone in far, thanks to her superior German construction, though it had hit her. "Grr, that.. well, actually that was a mosquito bite, but still!" Zorin tried to make a grab for the girl again, though this time being more forceful and trying to wrestle her against a nearby wall. If she could get her hands on her, anyway.
Zorin Blitz gets a glancing blow on Pacifica Casull with her Woman Wrestling, the best sport of all. feint.
A mosquito bite? Pacifica would have to try a little harder then. She stares at the arrow as Zorin plucks it out, a little wide-eyed, and isn't at all expecting it when the vampire comes at her again. She tries to scramble away, but finds herself up against a wall, and not in a good way. However, she's still got a tight grip on her crossbow and although it's a little hard to aim since the arrow is pointing down, she aims at the only thing she really can--Zorin's foot. Perhaps that'll make her let go! After all.. surely her feet can't be quite as muscled as her chest, right? And if she can pierce through the boot..
You hit Zorin Blitz with your And Now, The Foot! attack.
"AHHHHH," Zorin screams as the arrow now juts out of the front of her combat boot, dancing back on her good foot and almost losing hold of her scythe. "That HURT!" Zorin growled and cried out a bit, reaching down to pull the arrow out of her boot before focusing on Pacifica again. The darkness around them seemed to waver, rippling, in fact, as if the world had suddenly become unstable. Nothing else happened after that, save for the heavy breaths of the giant German woman and her clinking scythe. "If I wasn't so hungry I'd cut you--down the middle!" Zorin made a gesture in the air with her hand, a flat palm and fingers striking down through the space in front of her. Apparently she meant it. "But.. that wouldn't leave any room to have fun with you, my dear... hahaha!" the blonde sneered, pushing the shaft of her scythe out like a punch to try and knock Pacifica back a bit.
Zorin Blitz hits Pacifica Casull with her Girl meet Steel jab.
Thankfully the German woman wasn't going to slice her in half. On the other hand, the shaft of the scythe was pretty durable and when used by the muscled woman, pretty potent. Pacifica gasps, smacked pretty hard by the scythe, so much so that she stumbles backwards. However, it gives her the opportunity to reload her crossbow. Buffy'd gave her some silver bolts, mentioning that they were more effective on vampires. Loading one of those quickly, she tries to keep her balance and sends the bolt right at the vampire, aiming high this time, for the neck or shoulders, hoping that she'll hit somewhere painful and get the chance to get away.
You miss Zorin Blitz with your How about a silver necklace? super.
The stumbling causes Zorin to step back again, in surprise, a bolt of silver flashes across her vision, the mere proximity to her is making her ill. "Agh! why would you have something like that? You trying to make me ill!?" Zorin shouts, rubbing her eyes even though the arrow flew past her and into a wall, its still disorienting. Silver was one of the few substances that could harm a vampire like that, this extended to freaks as well since they were like real ones, but artificial. The muscled woman rubbed her eyes with her free hand, her other other jamming the shaft of the scythe into the stony ground beneath.
Pacifica Casull was a little surprised at how well the silver worked, even when she didn't get an attack in. Not wasting any time, she fishes for another silver bolt and tries again this time, in hopes that this silver bolt will do a bit better. She aims instead for the leg, in hopes that if it pierces she can slow the vampire down before making an escape. After all, if silver just being close to her made her so disoriented, then it was worth a shot.
You hit Zorin Blitz with your No? Guess you need a silver garter instead! super.
"Ahhhoooh!" Zorin's shout turned into a pained wail as she felt forward--missing Pacifica entirely and falling onto her elbows, scuffing them in the process. She was still not up to her best from the fight the day before last, though she wasn't /too/ roughed up, she was weak from lack of food, too. Damn her for preferring her food raw! Shaking her head of dizzyness, Zorin attempted to crawl away, the darkness of the city beginning to waver again.
Pacifica Casull holds an arm over her bruised ribs, just a little roughed up herself. She makes no move to follow the vampire but instead watches her head off, making a mental note to warn both Abel and Buffy about that one. She was particularly dangerous!
Zorin does indeed make it away, but her Illusion dissolves way before then, plunging the area of darkness back into light, breaking through in scattered rays before totally becoming the normal space it once was. It might even seem like a nightmare to Pacifica, given the otherwordly quality to it. Was it just a dream?
