*Waves to friends list*
So, I was sitting here, working like a busy little bee on my current fiction writing obsession, my V for Vendetta ficlet. And as such, my mind inevitably wandered. I began thinking of what a shame it is that fandoms eventually peter out into nothingness...
Now, for me the two that immediately come to mind is "Hot Fuzz" and "V for Vendetta". Two awesome movies with fascinating backgrounds, allusions, emotive scenes, and great character development. And after they were both released that had a quite significant fandom following. I know both have numerous communities on LJ, (some of which that I am part of). However, for both, the communities, and ff.net sections (as well as other fiction sites relating to them) for fiction have been depressingly quiet or utterly dead as of late.
The Walking Dead is a fandom that is something on a different spectrum I am finding at the moment. It is small, yet growing, with the fandom revolving around the TV series being generally a new one. I know the fanfiction communities I am part of, and the ff.net sections relating to the WD have slowed down considerably in the past weeks, which is to be expected I suppose with the lull in between seasons and the relative 'newness' of the fandom. (Though, no bitchness intended, but for the large part I look at the fiction on FF.net for the WD and headdesk a lot. Does this make me a bad person?) *unhappy sigh*
What do you guys think on that topic?
Do you guys have certain small/dead/dying fandoms you knew/know and love? Tell me about them and why you adored them!
Have you ever had the experience of finishing a movie, TV show, comic, etc and felt the urge to see/read fandom related works, only to find there was either no interest in that what so ever, or no fiction/works of any kind to be had anywhere on the internet?
