Winter Solstice!

Dec 22, 2012 09:32

I just have to tell you that you're one of the coolest Christians I've ever known, and I wish more of them were like you. Stay awesome.

*hugs*

I'm one of the few Christians who knows the reason for season is actually Saturnalia. ;)

*hugs back* :D Not only do you know, you respect and celebrate the Pagan origins alongside your own faith traditions. It's frankly inspiring and I think an incredible lesson in tolerance and acceptance for your kids. My folks raised me Wiccan but also bought me world mythology books and Bible stories, and you're giving your children the same kind of open-minded exposure and education. Not only are you a great person, you're a great mom.

Sorry, I get emotional and passionate about religious freedom and inter-faith stuff like this. One of my pet causes, heh. But yes. Thank you for being amazing.

Aww...thank you! I find it strange that with all the Christmas traditions, which can be traced back to Pagan practices, the one thing that can be traced to a Christian origin is attacked the most by Christians - Santa Claus. It truly shows the lack of education on the part of Christians of our own origins with respect to Christian traditions ( ... )

Were there any jokes about snow in Florida meaning the end of the world? :P

I didn't think of that, but no jokes. LOL!

Although, it did snow in Miami back in the 70s. The snow didn't last long...

Now I'm picturing the zoo full of Christmas lights and wondering if the animals enjoy the lights, after closing... %]

I'm guessing they do! Also 43 degrees, up here. Yay, Florida...

It was a small part of the zoo that had the lights, so most of the animals towards the front were in their pens, except for the flamingos, some egrets, a few annoyed ducks who wanted to sleep, and that one tiger sleeping on a pile of hay.

Give it another day and we'll be back up in the low 80s for Christmas. ;)

You need some ornaments. :D

We made hot chocolate last night, sat out by the fire pit and watched The Santa Clause 2.

When we were at Bed Bath and Beyond the other night for the hot chocolate maker, we saw your fire pit and were like... we can put that in the living room. *snort*

The heater's been on a few times.

LOL!

Bed, Bath and Beyond has fire pits? That's interesting.

We had to put a heater near Roxanne this morning, she was on her perch yelling: "I'm a tropical bird! What the hell is this?!"
