I saw someone on my Flist complain that it was rampant with racism and sexism... And my first thought wass... Have you MET the American West?? I wish I could have gone last night because Steve said it was really a great movie.

Too many people go to a movie and feel like they have to think any analyze it. What happened to just going to a movie and having fun?

And if people are complaining about sexism and racism? Did they make it to the end of the movie with all the humans actually working together? Did they miss Jake blowing up the bandit who wouldn't stop calling Alice a whore? Did they miss the fact that the men let Alice ride with them in the first place? Frell, the Indians (and I wish I could remember which tribe they were) followed ALICE. Gah, *headdesk*
Joan D. Vinge wrote the novelization, her first book since a car wreak, and one of the draw was how good all the characters are. It's on my buy it list.
