My notifications are starting to come in, sporadic, but they're getting there.

EDIT: Okay, they were coming in, not so much now.

I'm feeling much better today.

I had a scare yesterday balancing the checkbook for the Booster Club. I thought I had forgotten to add in a $700 check I wrote last week for the school. With the two other expenses we had yesterday, I just knew that check would bounce. I panicked. I was thinking that I turned a surplus into a deficit! Then when I checked the ledger, I saw that I had included it. Phew! We're good. I had everyone laughing about that last night at the meeting. I told them this is why I need a treasurer. *gigglesnort*

Last night was our last meeting of 2009. WOW! It's going by fast.

I plan on getting some decorating and some writing done today and maybe even post a chapter.

I can't put my finger on it, but I'm not head-over-heels for Alice like I was/am for Tin Man. I did enjoy it, but it's not on the same level. I've been reading other views to see if I can find out what my problem with Alice is. I think it's boiling down to character-chemistry/development and just the overall look of the two worlds. In this aspect, Tin Man wins out, but writing wise, I'd give it to Alice, but there were some dodgy lines. It could also be that I was more of a fan of WoO than I was of Alice in Wonderland. But, I didn't need to know much about either story to enjoy a re-imaging, I just wouldn't recognize the little references to the stories. However, Matt Frewer stole the show, seriously.

I'm beginning to think that one of the endearing qualities of Tin Man are the plot holes and maybe that's because I write fic. I love to figure out and fill in the plot holes.

The growth of friendship is better explored/portrayed I think in Tin Man. I recently did a rewatch and paid closer attention to Cain and Glitch. It's obvious Cain's attitude towards Glitch changes as the story progresses, but I noticed it not just in what he says and his tone, but facial expressions and body language. With Hatter and Alice...I don't know...it seemed rushed. His constant 'how can you trust him?' was a bit much. She broke up with Jack and was ready to move on to the next guy a bit too quickly for my tastes, especially after losing her father the way she did. Meh, I don't know. I really didn't see the gradual change between them like I did with Cain and Glitch. I believe this is due to the fact that Tin Man was two hours longer. I think Alice suffered in the second part because it seemed rushed.

Back to Tin man, one scene in particular makes me yell 'They're a couple!' is when Cain is asking for the numbers and 'Ambrose' goes into this long explanation about how important it is to put the numbers in right - Cain's expression is priceless. It's the same expression Jay uses when mini-me starts her explanation with 'well, this is what happened...'. Cain had that 'Will you just tell me!' look. A lot of praise go to Alan and Neal for all the Cain/Glitch moments, they had chemistry. Something I didn't see a lot of in Alice.

You know, Cain and Glitch sort of remind me of Daniel and Jack on SG-1.

I will probably watch Alice again, but I'm not about to run off and join a multitude of comms (I joined one).

I might have some more thinky-thoughts after a rewatch.

And I saw a post on Skiffy's Alice board that the ratings were not as high as Tin Man. I blame Skiffy for that. They promoted the hell out Tin Man. Maybe they weren't as happy with Alice as they were with Tin Man.

my life, ponder, discussion, tv: tin man, tv: alice, has anyone seen my memory, school
