It appears that cicadas really are deadly killers after all, at least in a passive-aggressive kind of way. A quick search of the news reveals numerous reports of children that have variously

• stabbed
  
• run over
  
• set on fire
  
• smacked face-first into large immobile objects

... either themselves or their compatriots, attempting to either kill or flee from the bugs. Of course, this is doubly-tragic because we are talking about children here, and I don't know if you know this or not, but the children are our future.
