So I got home today to two packages from the Kitchen Fairy. (This is not to be confused with the Kitchen Gnome, that is currently hanging from a hook in the ceiling in our kitchen by his belt, suffering an eternal wedgie.)
The Kitchen Fairy, a.k.a. Geoff's Mom, sent up a set of Corelle dinnerware for Villa (my household). We've had a set of thrown clay plates that are nice, but heavy, and fragile. As pretty as they are, they were beginning to go.
So now we have a nice set of basic white plates that will always be in fashion, always be for sale (for additions and replacements), and are nice and light and resistant to bachelors. Diane will be happy, too, I am sure.
My Amazon wish list has had a few more items added to it to round out the set - I may gradually pick them up, but they will be very nice to go with the current set, and upgrade the service for 8 up to 12, and give us some stuff we don't have. (I'm also amazed how reasonably priced some of this stuff is, too.)
On the other side of things, if any one knows of a household that can use some dinnerware, drop me a line and I'll see what I can do.
