First two days in Santa Monica

Oct 19, 2013 02:38

Despite waking up at 4am on Thursday, and despite some nausea/lightheadedness on the first flight, my trip to Santa Monica was mostly good. My older sister Missy picked me up at LAX, and we caught up while driving to her apartment.

After a nap we attended a taping of Craig Ferguson, which turned out to be a taping of both Thursday's and Friday's shows. Two for one! And two very, very strange shows at that. (We watched Thursday's show later and there is a split second where you can see us in the crowd.)

Today Missy and I went to the Getty Villa, where I got to see the Cyrus Cylinder. There was also a special exhibit on Tiberius, emperor of Rome, which amused me because last time I visited the Getty Villa, I spent much of the time formulating a pre-canon Tony Stark/Tiberius Stone plot bunny. Anyway, the museum was as beautiful as before, and as before I left feeling like I could have spent hours more there.

Tonight we drank and watched Whedon's Much Ado. I liked it a lot. Missy seemed on-the-fence about it. Missy's boyfriend claimed it was the strangest movie he'd ever seen. Clearly he hasn't watched much 70's sci-fi.

Saturday is Festival Supreme! I am desperately trying to relearn my good camera's settings and controls so I can snap a few good pictures of The Mighty Boosh.

And there are even three more days of Santa Monica after that!
