Cheese review

New restaurant on the island called Hitchcocks. Truly and I decided to try it today while Zach was off on a playdate.

They have a brunch and a cheeseplate:)

I, of course, ordered the plate of 4 cheeses:

Valdeon: Spain - goat and cow. Blueish and served with strawberry compote
Truly liked this one. Not 'too blue' she felt.
Me- Creamy but very salty. Lacks a distinct goat flavour. Better with more fruit than less. Strong aftertaste.

Manchego: Spain- sheep. Served with yellow , skightly sharp apple. Paper thin. Needed more flavout.
Truly- commented on similarity to a goat chedfar she had recently.
I would put it more in the aged swiss range. Harder cheese. Tough rind. Good texture - a little oily. Rind seemed to have a seed impressed in it.

Petite Basque: sheep, France. They left the wax on it...
Pleasant, rather unremarkable mild cheese. Rind is pleasant. Honey and almond a nice side, but distracting from the already mild cheese flavour. The rind was yummy but hard to remove once the wax softened.

Cana de Cabra: Goat, Spain.
Brilliant. Best of plate. Beatiful brie like rind, lovely soft outer ring with chevre like center.Medium strong flavour. Needed to be slightly warmer I think.

Truly had a blueberry and lemon - ricotta pancake.

All very yummy. Coffee was mediocre...
