Everything starts with Hello Goodbye ~ Art Post: sketch-a-day & miscellaneous summer fun

Sep 22, 2008 19:07

Is everyone sick lately? I have a headache and sniffles and muscle pain...probably not a good sign. I wish I could go to sleep but I can't even seem to do that right now. Schoolwork is on hiatus--my brain isn't in any condition to handle it...

Anyway, this is pretty much an art spam post, and therefore image-heavy. Read the LJ Cuts for what to expect.

*Important note: I'm planning on moving all the real-person based portraits to a friendlocked post in a few days. However, if I've included a portrait of you in this post, and you are too uncomfortable with the idea, please let me know; I'll either remove your picture completely, or move it to a friends-only post in advance, whichever you prefer.

Nino, from one of the 2008 photoshoots. This was done only a few days after I started sketch-a-day.

'Lissa, decked out in her prom outfit. I distinctly remember trying to take a good photo of her 4-5 times during dinner and failing pretty miserably each time. This one came out nicely though.

Erika-chan, from one of the photos I took during Junior year. I have no idea what's up with her hair, but that's the way it looks in the photo, so that's how I drew it.

Selena. One of the many pictures I took of her during summer of Junior year, and one of the rarer ones that didn't come out spazzy or featured us doing something crazy (like playing around with strawberries...).

Lizz <3 I this this was from the farewell picnic I had summer of senior year.

MatsuJun. So now I'm at 2/5. I should go ahead and get the other members drawn...

Shortly after I purchased the Copic liners, I went through several pages of paper testing them out. This was one of the drawings I actually did seriously. I would post a detail shot of the patterns on her skirt, but I'm too lazy and tired right now.

And another one. I kind of want a dress like this, maybe in yellow :D

This...probably needs an explanation. I designed it based on an actual fashion trend in Japan known as the "Ageha" style, which has several sub-groups within. The one I drew is the "princess style". These girls are known to have ridiculous hair piled up on top of their heads (like ones you see in manga--yes, with right amount of gel and a genius stylist, those hairs are possible), rose-pattered dresses, pink, very ostentatious jewelry, loud make-up, etc. etc. You get the point. The style takes getting used to, but it was so much fun to draw. References were taken from episodes 14-16 of HNA.

Robert requested an avi headshot. this was done only a few days prior to OpenCanvas dying on me though, so I had to cut out a lot of details--sorry about that.

The absolute last OpenCanvas avi art headshot I did featuring Tyler's avatar. This was done as a thank-you for the panda plushie he got me :3

Alright. Who remembers where this is from? Anyone? More than a year ago, I asked a question over Gaia, as to what stereotypical RPG characters the people on my friendlist associate with. Sadly, I'm still working on the actual pictures based on that post (some of the characters are sketched out in OpenCanvas, others on Photoshop, and others on paper, and they're all only half done...), but I did manage to get six chibis done before summer ended. These are really simple, and I used the minimum amount of details/layers I thought I could get away with. I hope there's enough there for people to guess which one is whom.

The only problem with this piece is that we all look so harmless, if we actually formed a group and went on an adventure with these guys, none of the enemies would take us seriously. Let's admit it, the most ferocious thing up there is probably that ninja-squirrel, and even he's a little too cuddly. Maybe Lizz and Sara's characters could lead a double-team attack while the rest of us sit back and watch? Because hey, at least they have swords.

I promise the actual finished product (whenever it gets done) will feature cooler weapons and clothes, and everyone who replied.

And that's it for today, and probably for a while, because I haven't had the time to draw anything serious lately, and I doubt I should be bothering Cat to scan every doodle from the margins of my notes.

Anyway, I hope everyone had a fun first day of autumn and a good beginning into the new season <3 I am off to eat dinner and then probably lie on the bed because wow, my head and eyes are both starting to hurt.

EDIT: Okay, I have no clue why some pieces are watermarked and others aren't. I swear I watermarked every single one of them before I uploaded... In any case, you all know better than to go art thieving, so I'm not going to correct it right now. Oh, but in case anyone's unsure:
