I know we're allowed to split the history and personality into different sections, but is it absolutely restricted for linking, even with characters with extended history?
Links are totally okay, just as long as the material you're linking to is something you've written!
Also, if you're apping a character with 200+ chapters of canon, we don't need a super detailed, blow-by-blow of everything that happened ever! It's easier for everyone in such cases if you pick three or four major events in which the character you're applying plays a significant part, and focus on those, rather than attempting to summarize the entire series from beginning to end.
You can reuse as much of your old application as you like! Just double-check to make sure it's formatted with our current application form, and you'll be good to submit!
random queries! LMAODSL harunoSeptember 13 2010, 22:30:01 UTC
When would be an appropriate In Game Timeframe to see about getting a janky same-solar-system capable spaceship for characters? How about characters pitching in together? What would you folks consider reasonable?
Can characters send out probes to their homeworld's locations? What timeframe would be reasonable for one to be sent/arrive back at the Thor? (In theory they could get lost forever, or take a long time since the Thor jumps around monthly, so it's more about learning the best case scenario, if it's possible.)
Player run mini-plots (as in affecting 10 or less characters) are fine, from what I understand. Can any of those mini-plots have a few NPC characters being used by those participating to facilitate the experience? Furthermore, can locations on planet and/or small spaceships be manufactured for purposes of the mini-plot, with the intention of only being around for the duration of the mini-plot? (i.e. Can I say there's an NPC small space-ship captain looking to hire 5/6 cargo guards for a trip between point a and b

answers to your random queries!shareenjoyotpSeptember 15 2010, 12:32:10 UTC
1) We'll say at least three cumulative months of college degree wage. If one character is requisitioning the spaceship, they'll need to have worked three months at college degree; if two or more characters are requisitioning it, they'll need three months between them. It also depends on how much money your character spends or wastes; if they're spendthrifts, it may take them longer to buy a spaceship. Also take note of the fact that renting a spaceship is definitely possible, and will be infinitely cheaper! Just don't be surprised if it breaks down

love and adoration! only some of these have any questions this time.harunoSeptember 15 2010, 16:16:07 UTC
1) Great! I'll ditch the ordered list this time, have some good old numbers. Also thank you on the note for renting, that also makes beautiful sense. Would characters then have to worry about docking fees? (Not in renting, but rather owning.) Would ship upgrades be a "save up and purchase over time?" (I'd think so, relating back to "how much money does your character spend /seriousface

1) Yes and yes! Really, we'll leave most of it to your discretion; as far as we're concerned, you have a good handle on it all and we trust how you'll work with it!
2) Of course! Proof by way of constellations is actually a very good idea, and you're more than welcome to go for it.
8) Yes, you need three months of solid working before you can get a permanent job paying the minimum wage (longer if they want a higher pay scale; see here for further details!) And yes, it could remain unannounced until then! Does that answer your question, or did I misinterpret?
11) lkas;dfaf NO I PROBABLY PHRASED THAT WRONG. Something like the discography is fine! If it's anything weighty, then run it by the mods, but for ridiculous things like that, you're free to use your discretion!
16) It would be an NPC to NPC basis; there are a number of species aboard the Thor, and they all have their own customs and mores. It would be impossible to come up with an age limit that works for all species. That being said ages are used sometimes (as with summer

1) Will it be possible to locate someone on the Thor using a guide's FlamingFerret program, like you can do with a cellphone's GPS features? Or is a person only traceable the moment they post? (or not at all o.o)
2) Would their, er, allowance at the beginning be enough to cover the purchase of clothes and still have enough to spare for a few meals?
3) Mmmm, so if someone hits the "post" key for an entry and they have a piece of paper with a drawing covering their face, will that reflect in their network user picture? >____>
4) How unusual is it for someone to completely separate their identity on the FlamingFerret/official documents and for their "irl" interactions? If it is unusual, how long will it take for someone to get caught? Does it count as something like identity document forgery, and will someone obtain a criminal record through that?
To clarify what I mean by "traceable the moment they post" ---> like how you can locate where someone's accessing the internet from through ISP.
And. Er. A few questions for something I may or may not use, tending towards "not" because I may get lazy/forget about this/derp in the very near future: What species made the encoding for the Ferret, how close are their thought processes to humans, and how easy will it be to understand their programming? More importantly: IS MATH TRULY THE UNIVERSAL LANGUAGE -----

1) It's possible to locate someone's actual physical position using the Guide. (Or more accurately, the actual physical position of someone else's Guide. Whether or not that someone else is with the Guide is a different question entirely.) It might take a bit of fiddling, but it's certainly not anything a genius scientist couldn't overcome. 8) (also, in response to your question in your additional comment - the encoding for the FF browser is something that any human with a bit of computer knowledge can eventually understand for themselves, if they were to take the time and trouble

-Just like in any other city, there's crime. That definitely includes lots of unsavory, seedy characters and plenty of shady dealings. Players are welcome to invent, use, and abuse NPCs pretty much however they see fit, as long as any plots that might evolve from the existence of such characters don't affect other players without their permission

Thank you so much! Mostly this business would be NPC only, I doubt there will be anyone in game wanting a super-powerful weapon since characters have their own weapons/super-powers. However, if something like that happens, I’ll contact you guys :3

Say we're apping characters with 200+ chapters of canon. Is it against the rules to link to histories even for them?

5) What if it's destroyed? And how easy (in terms of access)/costly would it be to purchase another Guide?
