When would be an appropriate In Game Timeframe to see about getting a janky same-solar-system capable spaceship for characters? How about characters pitching in together? What would you folks consider reasonable?
Can characters send out probes to their homeworld's locations? What timeframe would be reasonable for one to be sent/arrive back at the Thor? (In theory they could get lost forever, or take a long time since the Thor jumps around monthly, so it's more about learning the best case scenario, if it's possible.)
Player run mini-plots (as in affecting 10 or less characters) are fine, from what I understand. Can any of those mini-plots have a few NPC characters being used by those participating to facilitate the experience? Furthermore, can locations on planet and/or small spaceships be manufactured for purposes of the mini-plot, with the intention of only being around for the duration of the mini-plot? (i.e. Can I say there's an NPC small space-ship captain looking to hire 5/6 cargo guards for a trip between point a and b near where the Thor is stationed in a given month, and play out this captain and any shenanigans for the duration of whatever's going on?)
Can characters get permanent jobs working for NPCs, for all intents and purposes. (Since in theory doing so already exists if you're working with the police; could it exist in other fields, too?) If so, are we allowed to randomly generate some personality for this Head Hancho NPC, and could we toss that info up in our own journals, or maybe leave it as a comment in the exist NPC post for this community, for the hell of it? (Or the halibut?)
Can we invent power-limiting devices for our own characters LMASOASD I don't know if/why anyone would want to but -- is that possible? Like, say, some alien tech that's found to work just so and disturbs and/or absorbs chakra flow and suddenly ninjas aren't as ninja as they'd like to ninja to your ninja. Ninja.
In theory can we make up believable or ridiculous bs involving contacts/friendships/acquaintances with the NPC population? How about with NPC "school age" kids? Can there be "rival schools" on the Thor that the refugee school could go up against, or are we presuming it's all one school as is?

1) We'll say at least three cumulative months of college degree wage. If one character is requisitioning the spaceship, they'll need to have worked three months at college degree; if two or more characters are requisitioning it, they'll need three months between them. It also depends on how much money your character spends or wastes; if they're spendthrifts, it may take them longer to buy a spaceship. Also take note of the fact that renting a spaceship is definitely possible, and will be infinitely cheaper! Just don't be surprised if it breaks down.
2) Yes, that's possible, but it would probably take a few months - we'll say three! - and there would be no information retrieved. The worlds really are gone, folks!
3) This is fine. Clear the details with the mods, but using NPC characters or extrapolating on planetary locations is both welcomed and encouraged. Be creative!
4) Yes and yes! So long as you follow the guidelines on the Permanent Job post, that should be fine. And feel free to have fun with NPC personalities. Several players have done this before, and it's always interesting.

One day, we could potentially organize some event like this; running across a different ship, NPCing or 4th walling different characters. At this point in time, though, there's no feasible way to get in contact with them. But we'll keep our options open!

1) Great! I'll ditch the ordered list this time, have some good old numbers. Also thank you on the note for renting, that also makes beautiful sense. Would characters then have to worry about docking fees? (Not in renting, but rather owning.) Would ship upgrades be a "save up and purchase over time?" (I'd think so, relating back to "how much money does your character spend /seriousface.")

I think the only thing I'd be curious about is -- since the worlds are gone and some characters stonewall with stubborn refusal to accept this, can, in fact, at least pictures of the stars be taken (i.e. the probe going to more or less where in orbit and rotation the planet should have been/used to be, taking pictures of the stars in what once would have been different hemispheres, and when back on ship they're run through an atmosphere enhancing program BASICALLY CAN WE GET RECOGNIZABLE CONSTELLATIONS FOR CHARACTERS i.e. potential "holy heck I... actually recognize that stretch of space"?)
