chapter four [voice]

At first I had been thinking about my job. Rather, what exactly the milk up here is made out of. I'd figure it would involve cows and a farmer like it did back on Earth, but you just can't be too sure. But now, I actually have a different question. It's kind of rhetorical, so bare with me ( Read more... )

...yeah, something like that. It was a pretty confusing story at first glance, to be honest.

I'm still pretty new to all of this, so I don't have an answer.

Oh. Well, that's okay... it wasn't exactly an important question anyway.

How do you like it so far?

[had been listening intently!]

... Well... really, I guess it'd be possible. Ever since coming to Thor I've seen strange things and ... very recently I've heard of something called a parallel universe. Well, not exactly. I had heard about it before, but recently I found out that they actually exist, because of what happened to a friend I met here.

So I'd assume that everything strange that doesn't sound possible can probably happen. It's easier for my sanity that way.

[inaudible sigh of relief!]

So wait, it's happened aboard here too? I should really stop acting surprised at these things, but I'm still slowly easing into a routine here.

I reacted to them the same way for about four months, and then the apathy just kind of...set in, I think.

It's happened here, yeah. I've also heard other rumors of other strange things happening to other people.

I keep on forgetting where I am and continue to react regardless. It's hard to say "I've never seen this type of thing anywhere in the world" when you're not there.

...I see. Well, I guess that just makes things a lot more confusing.

Don't see why not. Our worlds have been derived, but here we are.

That's what I figured. Even if the world had changed, once it changes back, it still counts. Or something to that extent.

World B still existed at some function of time, so it still has a chance. That's absolute, even if all evidence was subtracted.

So essentially, whomever this is happening to would have to expect different variations on their friends. Lucky them.

Different Worlds?

Well...where my friends and I came from, we actually visited a different world. It wasn't the same as ours, but it certainly existed at the same time. So maybe it's possible for multiple versions of the same world to exist at the same time too!

Ah, really? I didn't even think that someone here might have went through that kind of thing until now.

Seven years?

So not only are we dealing with different worlds, but different time periods. [MORE temporal nonsense, Kyon's greatest dream come true.]

...I'm actually trying to wrap my mind around it myself. I'm not sure that anyone could destroy and even recreate the world that quickly, just to get bored and destroy it again.
