I'm well aware that this is hardly an uncommon complaint, and I'm pretty sure I can already anticipate the kind of answers I'm bound to receive, but answers would be

Since the guides themselves are prone to doing stuff like that, I don't think you can do anything about it.

Though this had nothing to do with my Guide malfunctioning. what could they do if I simply refuse to undertake the job I've been assigned?

I dunno, try it! You won't get paid, obviously, but I don't know if you would get in trouble.

Perhaps I will, then. Not being paid is a consequence I'm quite willing to deal with. Still, I'd like to know what other repercussions there may be before I make any firm decisions.

It'd probably be best to talk to the manager or something and try to explain before being a no-show.

I expect so. Though so far my experience of people in this place has not suggested that they're prone to being reasonable.

Yeah it's kind of hard to fix any sort of problems!

The job itself sounds tedious but certainly not bad, only the ridiculous clothes I'm expected to wear make it questionable.

Having to wear ridiculous clothes isn't that big a deal. That's like my every day life.

Not that big a deal, no. But I think it's reasonable for me to want to examine my options rather than merely accepting a situation I find troublesome, don't you think?
