An Angel & A Shinigami Walk Into a Bar † Audio

Oct 31, 2011 01:08

[The audio, like so many things, begins abruptly.]

-should’ve figured one of you guys would show up. I was just about to put the word out. [The first to speak is Gin, his voice getting increasingly louder as he comes back to where he left the guide. Contrary to his usually dry tone, he sounds rather somber at the moment.]

[The answering voice is Urahara's, and it sounds subdued compared to the usual, bright tone he sports when addressing the network.] So he has gone then. I was hoping perhaps that my senses were off, and I was just unable to sense him.

Yeah, well, sorry to burst your bubble. [There’s a pause before Gin speaks again, this time a little more softly.] ... sorry. I just... wasn’t expecting it.

No, I understand. After all this time, I suppose one was starting to get complacent about having him around. He always has been something of a reassuring constant, even back where we came from.

I’ll pretend to be surprised. [The sarcastic barb is at least made lightly this time as Gin pulls out a chair and takes a seat at the table where the guide is located.] Do you think he’ll come back?

[Urahara chuckles.] I would like to hope so; I'm fairly certain it would take more to put a stop to Ukitake Jyuushirou than a mere trifle like the planet exploding.

That’s some faith you’ve got. Does Yoruichi know yet?

Possibly, I haven't seen Yoruichi-san since I noticed his reiatsu was gone. If you wouldn't mind Gin-san, I'd like to forewarn the others before this is made public knowledge. Certain parties are likely to be quite upset.

Sure, it’s not like I’m in any rush to be the bearer of bad news. Take your time and let me know when you’re ready. In the meantime, I get to figure out what the hell I’m going to do about Halloween now that he’s not here to hold off the kids.

Ah, of course. To hold off the trick or treaters and to finish off the leftover candy, no doubt... Goodness, I've not just lost a very dear friend in this sad business, I've lost my best customer. [It's an attempt to lighten the atmosphere, but to those that know Urahara well, it seems half-hearted and flat.]

Huh, what happened to that stunning optimism a minute ago? [The clumsy attempt at lightning the mood continues, but at this point it’s probably ringing a little painfully hollow.]

Well it is Halloween, I suppose my sales won't take too large of a hit.

[Gin snorts.] If you’re that worried, I’ll place an order now and you can bill the old man when he comes back.

That sounds- [Long pause.] Gin-san, I think we've been overheard.

Huh?

Your Guide...

... oh sonovabi-!

[The feed ends.]

[ooc: Gin and Urahara talking about the loss of a good (and old) man.]
