Well, this is interesting. I can't claim that it's a situation I ever would have anticipated, but it's interesting, nonetheless. Ah, it brings up a lot of fascinating questions, don't you think? How is one supposed to feel on discovering their home world - everything they knew and all the people that ever meant anything to them - has been ( Read more... )

Personally, I was pretty upset when I first got here, but it's really not that bad. There's some really nice people around here.

[Like me. I'm nice. Look - I'm even about to offer my time and superior knowledge!]

What sort if things do you want to know?

A somewhat predictable reaction perhaps, but understandable nonetheless. I won't pretend that I'm not a little disappointed to know my home no longer exists. At least, if what we've been told is the truth. And I suppose I am glad to hear there are a lot of nice people around.

[Providing you're human you automatically have his love, though its not necessarily something you would want]

Anything you could tell me would be welcomed. So far all the information I've received has seemed somewhat vague.

Oh, disappointed is normal! It'd be sad if you didn't miss your home planet and the people from it! But, it might take a bit, but I'm sure you'll make friends here, if your friends from home aren't here right now.

[S - so human it hurts.]

Well, there's a lot of stuff about the ship! I'm more knowledgable about the social things around here~! Like, the best refugee run bar around here is The Devil's Nest, and the best refugee cafe is Class Act~! You should also get a Guide Bag if you can find one, because it'll significantly cut down on the number of times it will turn on without you wanting it to!

Oh! Oh! Be very careful - very very very careful - when you sign up for a job because sometimes you'll sign up for the wrong one, and you could end up being a pooper scooper or something if you're not careful!

I suppose it would be, though I won't pretend that disappointment is all I'm feeling. This is interesting, at the very least. And I'm glad to discover that humans have the capacity to go on surviving, even when the thing I have always believed life to depend on has been taken away. As for making friends, I'm sure I'll get to know people well enough, given some time.

[Then his love, she has it~ Though its her humanity he cares about, rather than her as an individual :|]

Ah well, I'm sure that information will come in useful. Thank you for the advice about the bag, I certainly wouldn't want to find myself being recorded at inappropriate moments!

[...he really wouldnn't...]

I've been informed about that, yes. I was told there was no known way to entirely avoid the occasional sign-up to a job I would not necessarily want, however. Do you know if this is true?

[She's signed up for a few jobs that she hasn't wanted, but as she got richer abd richer, with more experience to boot, she's gotten most all the jobs she's wanted.]

[Bu - but hold up.]

[What did he say? The way he talked about "humans" and adaption made it seem like... Distracted like WOAH, here.]

Oh... You're not...human?

... Do you have tentacles, mister?

Lol, no I'm quite human, thank you. No tentacles, or anything!

[Though she'd be forgiven for making that mistake given that he tends to talk about humans as though he is something apart from them. He sees himself as existing outside of the normal confines of human experience, hence his unusual way of referring to them, though deep down he knows he's as human as everyone else]

Oh. I'm sorry, Mister, I just assumed. Not everyone around here is, you see.

[Ahaha... Awkward!]

[But she's pretty good at covering her embarrassment, especially over text.]

It's pretty hard to avoid the occasional bad job, yeah. Sometimes boys end up as mermaids for the month, or else bikini or loli cloths models! It's quite bruising to the male ego.

That's alright. I suppose it must be difficult to tell, in a place like this.

Ah, yes. That could certainly be awkward. Though how exactly does one end up as a mermaid? I would have thought if such a thing existed, it would be a matter of genetics.

Oh, no. Not geneticay or permentantly mermaids! They just had to dress up as them but...that is a little more humiliating than being transformed into one.

Although you can be transformed into mermaids too! I once visited an underwater world where it was the norm to be genetically altered to include fins and gils! That was pretty cool!

I suppose it would be, though I can't say I quite see the point of people being required to dress up as mermaids. How does that even qualify as a job?

I think on a personal level I would prefer it if my body remained free of genetic alterations. Still, it must have been interesting, to observe how people reacted to such a change.
