[It looks like Japan's at work when he films this video. Instead of appearing out of the side of the frame after a moment or something else equally roundabout, he's already sitting in front of the camera when it turns on. He's sitting up, shoulders squared.I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but it looks like someone delivered a package to my room

I can take it off your hands if you don't like it. [ a beat. ] What did it get on?

Some clothing. [Look of assessment.] Do you really want it?

Have you tried throwing the clothes in the wash yet? [ not sure if that was a good look of assessment, but ignoring it. ] Yeah. I'm sure I could find something to do with it.
[ like pouring it in Lelouch's drawer or something, but he's not going to come out and say that. ]

I laundered some of my things earlier. [...] This smell tends to cling.
[It wasn't a BAD look, let's leave it at that~] It'd be good if someone got some use out of it.

I see. [ that must be horrible sdfgh remembering his manners and not frowning. too much. ] I'm sorry to hear that. Perhaps it'll fade with each wash.
[ nodding a bit. ] I agree.

That's what I'm hoping. I really don't want to smell it any longer. [It makes him grouchy.]
[...] Do you need perfume for something?

I can understand. [ which is about as close as he gets to admitting that he doesn't like it either, but. w/e, his feelings don't matter. ]
I don't know yet. I figure something will come up- Lelouch said it was always best to be prepared.

Scent is the sense most strongly tied to memory, after all. [Another look goes here.]
Perfume is a very specific preparation, isn't it?

a sharp look on his side, because he knows all too well. that scent is most prominent before the war, when he and Lelouch were children, and it only reminds him of blood and gunpowder, and that leads to him reliving killing his fa-
-- right, right, not lingering on that he promised himself he wouldn't, the sharpness smoothing out and leaving room for neutrality. ]
It is. Perhaps it has its use already with just that.
[ a slight glance over at Zero's suit before he returns his gaze to the Guide. ] Yes. Most would use it before they go on a date, I think.
[ not that he's every been on one. zero-sama is too busy for that... ]

He clears his throat.] A bad memory is hard to shake. Scent or no scent. [Following that look.]
Why would you wear a scent you're not fond of on a date?

fine enough, that is, to tilt his head a bit and let this thing that felt like discomfort pass. ] A memory is a memory for a reason; they aren't meant to be lingered on.
[ something he'd know very well. ]
Maybe because the other person might like it... it would be worth it if so. In most cases, scents aren't too hard to get rid of; there's detergent for clothes, soap for the body, and sleep for the mind.

I disagree. Good memories, and some bad memories, are the things that shape us. Without them, we are nothing. [He folds his hands together, his expression even and somewhat detached.] Everyone operates differently, of course, but for a nation... this is a truth that is impossible to avoid. [And in a very timely manner, he catches another whiff of sunflower and squints. Sigh.]
It sounds like you have a very detailed containment plan. [Eyebrow goes up a little.]

he's certainly shaped a nation. saved it from a man who wanted to destroy it, then left it to be taken over (he would have been the Prime Minister). became stronger, faster, and was finally able to stand a little better on his own so he could take it back. but, he only ended up destroying a part of it in the process, and--

Sometimes, you have to learn how to let go of some memories. I didn't mean that they weren't important in making us who we are; I was just saying that it's better not to linger on them. A nation... [ ... not exactly getting it, but: ] Perhaps a nation cannot, though, the memories ( ... )

like a child wanting to learn something new and interesting, he sits there, intently, happily, listening to every word Japan says and soaks it in with a half-smile. it's been a while since someone other than Lelouch tried to explain something to him; he's almost relieved. almost. because if this were Lelouch, there'd be insult after insult following it (idiot this, idiot that).
he doesn't interrupt. he waits and waits until Japan exhales, and then his half-smile becomes a full blown smile. you sound like C.C., he wants to say, all in a tone too fond to be talking about an accomplice (a tone taken when talking to a friend, instead), and Suzaku lets it slip in his mind like- like a memory, perhaps. a memory of wanting to be a barber and play with people's hair all day because it's what he like(s)d to do. ]
I see. I think that's... a very mature outlook. More mature than how most people would look at it. It sounds like something C.C. would say, if she had anything to say at all. [ hm.What nation are you, if you ( ... )
