[Bulma sighs as she walks towards the residential area where she has been told that her room is, her steps are heavy and tired. She's exhausted, emotionally rather than physically and her eyes are red from crying. They haven't swollen up yet but it won't take long, now that the last stamp was put and she got the stupid towel, the guide and ( Read more... )

There isn't really a speed, and it would be harder than you think to locate your planet from here. Unless you have the right equipment. But judging from your question about the guide, I'm thinking not.

Anyway, welcome to the Thor! I'm the Doctor.

It's okay, it's not exactly my planet what I want to locate but another one. But being able to make an approximation at the position of the ship as it moves would make it easier for me, that's why I asked.

[The right equipment? Well, her company certainly allowed communication devices to fall into a state of "no-progress" as it focused in other things and she understands now how it was a mistake. However she's confident that she can overcome this, even if it won't be as perfect as she would like it to be.]

Thanks for the welcome anyway. Uhm, excuse me but do you mean that you're the doctor of the ship, as in medicine related, or is that actually your name?

You're welcome, and no, I'm not. It's more like a title. Or, more accurately, everyone calls me the Doctor. I call me the Doctor too.

[He's not trying to be confusing.]

[He's a bit confusing even if he doesn't try to, fortunately Bulma can understand it to a degree.]

Ah, I see. It's a pleasure to meet you then, Doctor. Uhm, talking about that, are there medical facilities here? I would hope so but I can also see us having bad enough luck to end stuck with none.

You as well, Bulma. And of course there are. I mean, I think there are, I haven't actually had to use one yet, but this ship is like a city.

I suppose it's a good thing that you haven't had to use them. Health is kind of the only thing we have left in a situation like this, isn't it?

Health is important, but it's hardly the only thing left. Look at all these people! You're on board a giant spaceship whizzing about the universe with some sort of silly thing as an engine, and there are all sorts of people. That's plenty to chew on, isn't it?

I meant personally, each one of us. As a community, yeah, it's honestly nice what we have. And it's a unique opportunity despite the sad circumstances, the opportunity to study the ship's technology, to know about other planets and their technology... I love those chances, I just hope it doesn't end being too dangerous for its worth.

It's been rather nice so far. There's the Impossibility Drive to worry about, course, but once you get past that it's been interesting, and not in a bad way.

I have heard about the ID already, like that last time it happened people were stuck in an horrible fashion style for a while. It's how the ship moves, right? I suppose it's an acceptable risk the effect of the ID in exchange of traveling large distances in the blink of an eye... Though I don't know how it's really good if they can't know where they are going.

I don't think they're the brightest of the lot, that's for sure.

[She laughs.]

Maybe that's why they trust the ID, easier than to calculate distances and directions in the vast space, vacant of landmarks and subject to constant change.

Sure. I suppose it would make sense for its time.
