[Bulma sighs as she walks towards the residential area where she has been told that her room is, her steps are heavy and tired. She's exhausted, emotionally rather than physically and her eyes are red from crying. They haven't swollen up yet but it won't take long, now that the last stamp was put and she got the stupid towel, the guide and

To move, S.S.Thor uses something called "Improbability Drive" [aaand he doesn't feel like typing out what that is, so he links her to this (first minute)]
There are no coordinates, everything is at random and its the driv4e that "chooses" were we will be ending up next.

If so, do you know if the drive is controlled as to when to happen or is it some sort of uncontrolled phenomena?

At the end of each month, S.S. Thor captains activate the drive and for a couple of days we'll be suffering from relatively safe and temporary side effects - these side effects vary a lot.
As consequence of using the ID, wormholes are created, although these are constantly happening through the whole month; they are also the ones that bring people to Thor.

There is also the chance they will send someone back to their world and timeline, allowing them to stay there until they caught up with the "future". Then, the wormhole will grab said person again and bring them back to Thor.
While on Thor only a couple of days have passed, the person might have stood on their world for months, even years.

Your planet will explode. If it has already exploded, if it will explode tomorrow or in 5000 years, there is no way of telling; ID does not take that in account.
But someone arriving from "the future" can only mean the planet still exists until that time line at least.

I have another question if you don't mind, does the S.S. Thor often make stops at planets? I've seen that we're currently over one, at least.

It's impossible to keep a map not only because of that, but also because the universe is pretty big.

I wouldn't dream to make a map, besides there's not much point on making a map of the universe. But it's really annoying, I suppose I'll have to content myself with being able to know when we're close to where I want to go.

You cannot leave Thor.

You were pulled from your world and supposedly you should be dead; instead, the drive picked you and kept you alive. So, if you stray away from Thor you will die.
"Dying" is a matter of how long you stay away from Thor, it has nothing to do with proximity of the ship. It doesn't, however, happen right away. It depends on the person and the circumstances under which they were rescued.
We know at least that you can stay away from Thor for 6 months.

Truthfully, the whole thing is very confusing and it doesn't make much sense. Many refugees wish to believe that the captains are hiding things and our planets were never really destroyed. Whatever you believe, these are the facts presented to you; if you want to risk it, you can move away from Thor, but you have 50% chance you'll die.

Just one thing, you mentioned that the wormholes sometimes suck people in permanently, is that like what you said about going back to your world and time and later being returned here? Except that there hasn't been said return yet as far as we know?
