This last week has been hell because we've been getting our house painted (which was desperately needed!) which meant my outside time was pretty limited since I didn't want to get in their way. However, today they finished, and I ran right out to take some photos of how things are coming along ( Read more... )

Thank you! I have to give my husband credit for the house color, he really pushed for it, but he was right. You should have seen it before - it was grey and peeling everywhere - blech!

Holy Moly so much pretty I don't even know where to look! The front looks great too. Do you have any garden plans to go along with the new front/outside of the house?

I love that you asked that :) Because one of the main reasons I went with that green is because I thought it would look good with the colors of the plants I love. Mainly the huge pink flowering dogwood, my yellow sunflowers, and the pink zinnias I plant. There are also these huge purple plume things that have been here forever. I think once stuff starts flowering, it will look amazing!

That cool mystery flower is a really lovely dianthus [g].

I love your house's paint job (and your house), and your flowers are beautiful. Isn't columbine fantastic when it's happy?!

Yes, you're right! It must have been in the mixed seeds packet.

Great color. We were thinking about painting the exterior something close but went with blue instead. We used a lot of greens on the interior, most of the downstairs and it's close to our bedroom color.

I love it! I envy your recessed lighting. My house was built in 1911, so all it's walls are made from cement, wire, and gumption. Nothing recessed will ever go in those suckers.

Also, how in the world did you post a picture in a comment? I've never been able to do that.

We put recessed lighting throughout the house, which I love, because then lamps don't have to be all that practical. It's funny, a new build made to look like it's from 1911.

As for posting in the comments, I suck at HTML so what I do is open another tab and open my journal, and use the "Rich Text" tab to insert the image then pull the HTML from that tab.

Oh yeah, and I totally envy your garden. We're getting ready to pour the retaining walls then I'm going to sheet mulch and build up the soil in front so I'll be lucky to get anything in by fall. It's funny, our front yard slopes as well. I'm trying to eliminate some of it, making two levels. Here's the framing for the outer wall, the inner will go just behind the tree.
