This last week has been hell because we've been getting our house painted (which was desperately needed!) which meant my outside time was pretty limited since I didn't want to get in their way. However, today they finished, and I ran right out to take some photos of how things are coming along.

And just because I'm so pleased with how the painting came out, here's our house!

Peach Blossom Bellflower - I bought this thing on a whim at home depot last year because I thought it was interesting, and it came back with avengance! It's probably one of my favorite flowers in the yard. And the bees love it too.

Lettuce - On a totally separate whim, I ordered a bunch of seeds from Seeds of Change when they were sending out 25 random packets of seeds if you just paid shipping. In my mystery box, I received 5 different heirloom lettuces, and they are the most amazing greens I've ever grown. Right behind them is some amazing White Russian Kale, also from my mystery box.

Artichoke - Usually they stay tiny because it gets so hot here but I babied the heck out of this thing all winter so it wouldn't die and I think it's going to reward me with some edible veggies for the first time this year!

Roses - We have lots of roses, but this one is my favorite because it smells so amazing that sometimes I want to lick it.

Wildflower - Every year I throw a handful of wildflowers into the alley outside our fence and let natural selection do it's thing. Sometime I get cool mystery flowers like this one.

Crinkly poppy - Also from the alley collection, a neat crinkly poppy.

Huge Columbine - My mom gave me this as a seedling when we moved into our house 5 years ago. It is a BEAST. I think it must get just the perfect amount of sun, and it's right next to the creek, so water is constant. Anyway, this dude is at least 4 feet tall and 4 feet around and it somehow lives all winter through below zero temps.
