North American native pond plants, Zone 5/6

Hey all! So, my new house has a pond feature with a nice little stream, and no pond plants. I've had it all cleaned out for the summer and put some goldfish in -- they seem happy and have lived several weeks now -- and the water gardens folks told me to get some pond plants to help keep the water clear.

I prefer native plants, and I'm having trouble finding pond plants in general -- does anyone have any plants or sources they really like? For example, Nuphar variegata is a native pond plant, but I can't find it for sale...

(Yes, I've googled, and looked around on Dave's Garden. I'm looking for personal recommendations, please!)
