What to plant

OK..

I live in Zone 4a
I have a 5' by 16' strip alone the north side of my house between the house and the sidewalk/retaining wall (my yard is above the sidewalk)

I am considering

Rhododendron
Roses
Hydrangea

There is alot of foot traffic along the side walk, and a fairly busy 2 lane road on the other side..

Looking for thoughts, suggestions.....types...lol
