I've just returned from seeing one of the Yeah Yeah Yeahs' two comeback shows at Bowery, and I gota say--I'm a tad disappointed. Or OK, more than a tad. A dollop? Anyway, though I wasn't expecting them to play older songs and pull out all the stops, most of the new material just doesn't have the energy live to merit them dismissing most of their back catalogue. The only old songs on the list were "Art Star" (by far the highlight), "Y Control" (their best song), that weird bonus track on Fever, a beautiful version of "Maps" (as an encore) and "Tick" (their second-best song). "Gold Lions" held its own as the set-opener, but I found myself shifting my feet and looking around the crowd (at the OLD PEOPLE WTF) and not really getting into it. Maybe I just need to hear the album? Was anyone else there?

Ryan Cribs fucked up his back at the NME awards. That kid needs to get over the masochism, for real. EDIT: Holy crap, check that shit out on YouTube. I'm surprised the Kaiser Cheifs' teeth are still in their heads.

NYT has a pretty extensive article on Broken Social Scene and the whole mega-incestuous Toronto scene.

I ate 3 tacos at Snack Dragon today. Who's with me?
