Gant likes you. He respects you as a fellow lover of law and justice, but he also just thinks you're cute. He's a bit perplexed that you seem to like him so much and has decided that you probably have daddy issues. Gant loves having power over people, even if he never actually has to use it, so the fact that Near seems so dependent on and fond of him pleases him quite a bit. He's used to having intelligent, powerful people do what he tells them, but it's usually not this easy

Near considers you a friend. I would say that means he likes you, but he has the emotional depth of a kiddie pool, so that word is difficult for him. He likes that you're willing to stand up for yourself and craves the part of you that provides discipline. (wow... I can't NOT make our relationship sound totally kinky and fucked up) Near has parent issues in general because of the whole orphan thing... but he has never had much of an opportunity to deal with them. You make him feel strange because he's not sure WHY you care, but he's at a point now where he isn't so worried because he likes it
