I was reading the last fic I posted on my writing journal a while ago when two particular parts of it rather amused me. It was written in 2011 and it's called The Man From The Government.
"She was old enough to remember when men were proud to wear a bowler, not like these days when the Prime Minister decreed all Government staff should wear them as a reminder of when Britain truly was Great, as if a hat alone could bring back those glorious golden years."
Oh, as if a hat could make a country great again ;)
"Since the Prime Minister had introduced a law requiring all food and drink to be wholly produced in Britain, in order to made the country self-reliant and therefore Great once more, real tea was hard to come by. National Tea™ was now chemically produced by some factory just outside Swindon. It was cheap, it was disgusting, and it tasted nothing like tea but at least it was British."
Make Britain Great once more. It's got a ring to it...
Do you think perhaps someone was reading LJ and got ideas?!
