We're on the edge of a four day weekend woohoo! I believe in some countries it's only a three day weekend which is terrible - is that the case for any of the non-UK types amongst my friends

That sounds like a well planned weekend, especially the cake of awesomness :) Not much planned at all, we were going to eat ostrich for Easter - er, not an entire bird, I picked up some frozen ostrich steaks at Iceland and they seemed a suitable alternative to the roast which we weren't having anyway (nobody can face cooking a big meal just now) but given mum's under the weather with a bad tooth i suspect we shall remain ostrich-less for the forseeable future as she's not going to want to be chewing even tender steaks, ho hum. I may do some painting however..
I set aside a whole day for the cake baking, just in case...
One of my exes got some ostrich steaks once and tried to convince me to try some. I can't even remember if I actually ate some but I know that I just couldn't face the thought of it so I doubt it.
Well, with my history of baking, it seemed wise. Something always seems to not work out as it's expected to!
Rod Hull had an emu not an ostrich! Bernie Clifton had an ostrich :P I think it was a case of eating something odd as well as not being able to separate the meat from the bird. I can't bring myself to eat duck either for that reason.
Sketching is good though, it's not like you didn't get any arty stuff done at all. Did I mention that I got a copy of the 642 things to draw book with some money I got for my birthday? I have yet to make a start on it though...
Aye, the cooking gods are very hard on you it seems.
Picky picky *g* oh i'd forgotten Bernie Clifton, heh! You can't eat duck either? That's a shame.. I'm afried I have little difficulty eating things even if they are cute and fluffy (as mum says, cows have lovely eyes and are probably friendly but they taste good too...!)
Yeah, I'm happy with the sketching, the painting will come eventually. Yay new books, tho I have to say I'm a bit sniffy about that 642 things book as I prefer a how to rather than a list of ideas, hope you have fun with it though, I seem to remember its got some pretty off the wall suggestions :)
I swear it's the gluten-free stuff that does it. This was an all-gluten bake and it went remarkably drama-free.
I don't eat cows either :P Chicken and turkey and fish, that's it.
I had a flick through it the other day and did a couple of the suggestions. I managed a fairly nifty quarter coin drawn free-hand copying an actual coin I have so I was pleased by that. Some of the others gave me bits of inspiration so it doesn't seem too bad.

Did you get any painting done?

Oh? Put off by the thought of eating something a bit odd or felt sorry for the poor bird due to early love of Rod Hull's best friend?
No, sadly, got very little done other than a couple of sketches from the 50 things to draw book
