Illustrations

I've had very little work to do at college for the past few weeks so I've been playing around with Illustrator quite a bit. Generally, I've been going through tutorials I found on a website called vectortuts+ so I've been trying out different techniques and tools. Some of the results have been a bit hit and miss but these are some of the pieces I've made. As usual, click on the images for a bigger version.

Thank you cookies! I think this would make a really good greetings card. I might go back at some point and make the whole alphabet so it can spell out any message.

Evil Sword of Evilness! I did a second version that was all silver and shiny and didn't have the vicious blades but it wasn't quite as interesting.

Sailing ship. It was supposed to look like an illustration from a children's book. It was supposed to take 2-3 hours to do, it actually took me an entire day.

I made the coffee cups following a tutorial and then just added the background and text myself. It looks like another greetings card though. Maybe I should see if Hallmark are hiring.

Carnival mask! I loved the image but god, was it dull to do. I had to keep making brushes and just couldn't be bothered after a while. It was supposed to take 2½ hours, it actually took me a few hours on three different days. And the tutorial didn't say how to do the background either and so I had to cobble something together which I don't think looks quite as good.

I've now decided that I'm going to have a go at recreating an old picture of mine. It's a psychedelic-styled portrait of John Lennon done with coloured pencils so it should look pretty nifty in Illustrator.

deviantart, this is what i did at school today, in which nathaniel is arty
