FMP Coverage
Up until last week I had been doing really well with my FMP. I was on schedule and was close to finalising the layouts of the book's page and the cover. N randomly decided last Wednesday that he would take in everyone's study sheets to make sure that we were all on track; that wasn't a problem in itself, the issue was that we wouldn't get them back until Friday which meant that I lost an entire day to work on it. Somehow I've now ended up about a week behind which is rather concerning when we're just over halfway and I still have so much to do. Yesterday N asked if I'd got any further with anything and so I showed him the mock-ups of the book cover that I'd been working on.
I'd made one last week and then gone on to make some alternatives. I really liked my original one, I think it looks clean and simple and quite eye-catching but N doesn't seem to agree. It's based on the phone door on the TARDIS but N says that he doesn't recognise it as being any part of the TARDIS and so he doesn't think any 'non-geeks' will either. This is what it looks like:

N says it looks like a kitchen cabinet which I actually found quite hurtful. The other covers I'd made were pretty simple, a space background with text and the logo. I tried a couple of different fonts all of which were from Doctor Who (Deviant Strain, Timelord Solid etc) but I don't think they're as eye-catching or distinctive as the TARDIS door one.
I'm not kidding!!
To my mind, there seems to be something missing, it's not quite hitting the spot for whatever reason. N suggested adding an embossed silhouette of the TARDIS which gave me the idea of putting the cover text into the TARDIS shape as well. The text didn't work on its own, it just looked odd so I added the embossed outline to it which does make it look better.
Bigger is better!!!!
I prefer this to the one with plain text as it's more visually interesting. But I still think that my original idea is so much better. I don't know what to do now. Which one do I go with? I really want to go with the TARDIS one but after what N said, I don't know if I should :-/
