It's a bit annoying having a two day break from college in the middle of the week. I'd much rather do three days back to back than Monday, Thursday and Friday. I wasn't entirely sure what was happening today because as well as the Surprise!Photography class this morning, the afternoon was timetabled as Unit ? Year 1+Tutorial+Directed Learning. I'd been told by the Advice Centre that I wouldn't have any tutorial classes so I thought that might give me a spare hour in the afternoon.
The photography class was fun. The class was made up of two different groups that had come together and for some reason the graphic design group hadn't started it last week when the others did so we were a week behind. We had to make up a frontispiece kind of thing for our sketchbooks. The other class had already done half of it last week so we had to do two weeks of work in one! The first part consisted of a printed picture of a camera which we had to cover with whatever coloured paper, tissue paper, newspaper or magazine pages we wanted. Then we had to go through the stack of old newspapers and magazines to find letters to make up our names in a kind of hostage-letter style. I didn't have any idea of how to change the image of the camera so I just did something simple.

We only had 40 minutes and I'd only done the lens and made a start on the body when the teacher said we had 10 more minutes. That's why the lens is all neat and the paper is done in lines to represent the different settings on it but the body is more scrappy.
The thing is, I'm probably going to have to drop the photography course as it puts me well over the 16 hours that the Jobcentre allows me to do while signing on. It's not too much of an issue because I do already have a photography qualification but it's a shame as it would have been fun. I doubt I'll be allowed to sign on for the two years of the course so it's just a case of how long before it becomes an issue. And if homework is included in that 16 hours as I've been told, then it won't be very long at all.
